"I hate this."

"This is the worst."

"Never in my life did I have to do something so horrible before."

"I wanna die."

"Oh, shut it," Bradford finally snapped at them. "Stop being ridiculous, it is what it is now. Just work quietly and stop complaining."

Diana huffed. "Hah, you're one to say that."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I mean I can hear your breathing from over here. What are you, a dog?"

"Oh, please. That's nothing against your stamping. What are you, an elephant?"

"You did not just-"

"Guys!" Both if them turned to look at Charlie. "I know it's been a long night. We've been at it for hours now, locked into this small room and only running on caffeine and gummy bears. But please, stop fighting."

You didn't even give me gummy bears.

"I hate it that you're right," Diana groaned. "Ugh, I'm itching for a break. Why don't we step out for a moment and get us some real food or something?'

"We should do that." Everyone agreed with her and after locking the room, they left the building to go to the food truck parking in front of it.

While they waited, they sat down at a table made some small talk. But after hours of working together in the small space, there was not really anything left that they could talk about, so they were more than just happy to see some friends coming their way.

"Hey guys," Angela greeted, stopping in front of them with her hands on her belt. Next to her stood Jackson.

The group greeted her back tiredly, making her even more suspicious of them. Ever since Sergeant Grey had told them that two officers would be needed elsewhere for a few days, she was curious. But choosing a TO for it? Poor Chen was riding with Smitty for a nearly week now. "What are you guys working at, anyway? You never told me."

"It's a very discreet investigation. Only insiders," Charlie told her with a small smile, hoping not to hurt her feelings.

The Latina eyed the group suspiciously, but it's not like she could have said anything against that. "Okay."

"So, how is Chen doing? Anything interesting happened?"

"There is a reason Smitty will never get a promotion and is stuck here."

"She's complaining every day, but she was already doing that before so," Jackson joked.

Next to him, Angela had a playful smile on her lips. "Can you at least tell me when we can expect you back?"

"I don-"

"Tomorrow," Diana interrupted, surprising the Officers and Detectives. "Charlie and I can do the rest, there isn't that much left. So you guys can resume to your duties."

Her partner nodded. "She's right. We already talked to our Sergeants. Tomorrow morning, you can report to duty like normal."

Just as Bradford opened his mouth to say something, he was interrupted by the ringing of Diana's phone. The detective quickly excused herself and left the group, accepting the call.

The others watched her go, curious as they noticed she was having a rather heated argument with the person on the other end of the line.

After a few minutes, she came back, very obviously annoyed and angry. "Charlie, we have to go."
