A/N: a little besides the topic but every time I write Captain Holt my keyboard 'corrects' it to Captain Hook.
Do what you want with that information ¯\(°_o)/¯
Also sorry for the long wait and hope you enjoy :)
(This one is more b99 than the rookie, hope you like it)
_"A little more to the left. Not that far, more to the right. Oh dear." Peggy turned towards Lucy. "Do you think the height is okay? Should it hang a little deeper?"
"A little higher I think," the officer stated, watching as her TO was trying to hang the painting to their satisfaction without success for nearly ten minutes now.
His arms were tired yet he never complained about that — at least not out loud. In his head he was cursing Diana violently without taking a break even for once.
The door bell rang.
"Oh, that's the organic fertilizer I ordered last week. Diana recommended it to me. She said her friend also used this in her garden and it worked wonders."
"Please don't," Bradford whispered once she was at the door receiving the package. As if he was reading minds, only seconds later her voice reached his ears.
"Officer Bradford, would you be able to carry the container to my back yard and help me with my tomatoes? They just need a little bit on top of their roots and water. You already know where the watering can is." Before he could answer, she already turned to Lucy. "Dear, can you go up to my attic and look for a vase with a thin, red line going around its center? I've been unable to climb up the stairs for a few years now, so please don't mind the accumulated dust... and maybe one or two spiders. My son used to go up there but- anyways, let me tell you more about that vase."
_"Emilia was sad you couldn't come."
Diana fumbled with her hands. "I know. I am too but it was the cheapest flight to New York and my cop salary isn't anything astounding," she lied more to herself than to her brother.
She had actually exchanged her ticket for an earlier flight so she didn't have to go. She didn't feel ready to face the topic of what happened in the past now, despite every therapist she has ever been to telling her to work on it.
Truth was, the following years of school were enough mental torture to never want to step foot into any kind of school ever again. Her job sadly did not always give her the room to decide.
Her stomach churned every time she even looked at a school building.
Still, her time in Texas was overall very good. She had eaten with her family, met all her friends and some new people. She played pool with Paul, flirted with Marjan and teased the little cutie Mateo. She went shopping with Nancy, was invited over to Captain Vega's house for dinner and had played with the twins. And she also had some time alone with Carlos, who was her best friend in the whole world after all — nobody tell Buck though.
After a week of that, she was more than happy to visit her other friends up in New York. No one but Captain Holt and his husband knew she was coming since she wanted to surprise everyone.
Kevin was the one who picked her up from the airport and drove her to his house first. The guest room was already prepared for her arrival.
As she unpacked her bag, she smiled at the familiarity she felt in that room. The walls were still painted in a nude colour, the furniture looked natural but also neutral and the bed linen were in a dark blue with few black and white stripes.
After Rosa, Jake and her got out of prison for the bank robbery they were framed with, Diana had stayed with Captain Holt and Kevin for a few weeks, since her landlady threw her out for — you know — the whole prison thing.
