Your giggly announcement was strange and inquisitive.
"Your lips taste like orange juice" you told him and smacked your lips together.
Full of curiosity, Matt proceeds to savour the taste of his own two lips for himself, with your two year old in his arms. He hummed and licked his lips. "You're right. What do you think, buddy?"
Matt leaned down and kissed Cody. "Yeah!" He shouted, kicking his legs.
"Yeah?" Matt questioned, tickling his stomach. "Mommy's right, then?"
"As always" you commented, laughing at your boys playing around. You ran a hand over your bump, wearing a dress that Matt imported from somewhere in the world because he wanted you to be comfortable.
"I'll give myself a quick wash before we leave" he announced, setting Cody down.
"Please be quick" you begged. "I don't want to keep your Mom waiting"
It had been a crazy morning for you preparing for your trip to MaryLou's house. The month of October was coming to an end, the most important date, other than your baby making an arrival, marked on the Sturniolo calendar.
You had been exposed to the overwhelming symptoms, cravings and mood swings that came with carrying Cody the first time, baby number two was more extreme. If it wasn't for MaryLou checking on you everyday, tending to your every need, you were positive you would've suffered.
"I'll be quick" Matt promised, rushing to the nearest bathroom. What stopped him, was the sound of Cody's sneezing and sniffling.
You and Matt let out an 'oh' sound, sympathising with your first born who had some snot running down his nose.
You knew it was impossible to bend down to his level with your bump. "Bless you, honey" and let Matt rush back to pick Cody up in his arms.
"Let's get you cleaned up" Matt ruffled his hair, earning a giggle from the boy. "Maybe Mommy will join us since that taste of pickles in her mouth isn't nice, is it?"
"Hey!" You laughed. "Don't blame me if the baby wants something different"
The two boys laugh as they make their way upstairs.
At MaryLou's house, Cody clung to Matt for dear life and you both realised, he was feeling sick.
"Give grandma a kiss" you said to him, rubbing his back. On the way, his energy had become moderate instead of his usual bright and joyful character.
It hurt you to see him unwell as he hid his face in Matt's neck. "Go on, buddy" Matt encouraged him to greet his grandma by stepping closer to her.
Cody didn't like having to depart from his father, but he was more compliant with him than you. Cody was quick in reaching over to kiss MaryLou on the cheek, then went back hiding into Matt.
"Sorry" you apologised to her. "He's not feeling well"
"That's alright" she said, waving her hand. "I'm very grateful you're here today. And I can't forget the littlest one!"
You smiled as she ran her hand over your bump. "It's huge, isn't it?" Matt smiled, tempted to explore the surface of your stomach for himself. Cody whined when he felt Matt's arm loosen from around his waist.
"He just needs some rest" MaryLou told you, checking his temperature with the back of her hand. "He's a little warm. If he gets worse, buy some medication from the pharmacy"
The evening went on in the living room, three of them sharing laughs and drinking while Cody clung to Matt. After an hour passed, they began to get sweaty and Matt found it difficult to lay Cody down.
