You were both cuddled up on the couch, feet up on the coffee table and blanket over your legs. Your Valentines Day plan of doing nothing had been successful and you were ending the day with a movie, a takeaway and a pamper session.
You both had a pink face mask on, while the couple on the TV were arguing, you were trying to decide what colour to paint your nails. Biting the inside of your cheek wasn't helping. Matt hummed from beside you and picked a bright shade of green.
"This one's nice" he picked it up and squinted to read the colour on the lid. To be fair, you weren't sure if it even was green.
You hummed and took it back from him, opening the lid. Matt spread his fingers and rested both of his hands on your lap, with a smile on his face. "If I'm painting your nails, you can paint mine"
Matt watched you paint a coat on his finger and he nodded. "Sounds good to me" Each nail you painted, Matt wiggled his fingers, making the polish go on his knuckles and a laugh trembling from your throat. A sound he loved.
You left his ring finger clear and looked through your bag of nail polish until you found a black one and painted the remaining nails. Matt had a smile on his face, as he admired his nails.
He leaned over and kissed your cheek, some stubble scratching at your skin but you didn't mind. "Can you paint mine now?" You asked, setting your hands on his lap. Matt blew on his fingers for a second, before reaching over for the polish.
It was a given that they didn't turn out as great as his did. Green nail polish somehow managed to end up on your elbow and he smudged the black one on your ring finger, but you liked them. "Now we're turning into one of those couple that match all the time" you joked and Matt laughed.
"I don't think you could pull off my style" he kissed his teeth in a teasing manner and you laughed, nodding.
"Definitely not, babe" you agreed, leaning up to kiss his lips.
Matt pulled back and pecked your nose, before standing up from the couch and going into the kitchen for a refill. But Matt disrupted the silence all too quickly. "Oh..fuck!" You heard him yell.
"You okay, Matt?" You called out, ready to follow him, but the footsteps toward you grew louder as Matt stood in the doorway, pouting. He lifted his hand, pointing at his middle finger.
