You haven't felt this relaxed in so long. It's been forever since you and Matt had a getaway, with just the two of you. No friends, no brothers, no family, just you and him.
It's nice to make memories with loved ones, some of the best trips you've had were ones with friends, but sometimes you need alone time.
Matt surprised you with a getaway out of the blue, a week before the initial date of the vacation. By the time he arranged everything, even got your boss to give you time off, so you just had to pack a bag.
Now, it's been three days since you left your normal hectic life behind you and you've been enjoying every second in paradise with Matt. The best part was, you were in a small village, that the people here didn't care who Matt was.
As you sat on the terrace of the only restaurant, owned by the nicest couple, you listen to music played by a pianist who was also the baker. The sun was setting and you listened to the chatter of people around you, not understanding a word in Italian.
You were sharing a table with Matt, sitting next to each other, his arm over the back of your chair. Even though you're not married, this getaway made you feel like you were on a honeymoon. Sleeping in, cuddling in the morning, visiting the markets, walking hand in hand, picking out fresh food for meals. You go to the beach, sunbathe and swim around like kids, splashing each other until Matt caught you and threw you into the water.
The evenings are for cooking or coming down to the restaurant when you're not in the mood to stand by the stove, to fill your stomach and go for a walk when the sun sets.
You've never felt more full of love, so content and satisfied and you wish it would be like this forever.
Matt leaned in and kissed your head. You smiled at him, placing your hand on his thigh.
"Enjoying the vacation?" He asked as you lay your head on his shoulder.
"I love it. Can we move here?" He laughed, pressing a long kiss to your head.
"We could open a cafe. Become part of the village"
"That would be great" you sighed. "It could be a cafe and a bookshop. Everyone would love it"
He hummed in agreement.
You love Matt and everything that comes with him. You know his life is a part of him, so you fully accept it. But, sometimes you can't help but imagine a life where you were both normal, blending into the crowd, living a simple life. It will always stay a fantasy, but it's nice to picture it.
The pianist started a new song, and even sang along with it. Matt unhooked him arm from around you, stood up and held his hand out for you, hinting that he wanted to dance with you. Matt curled one arm around your waist, pulling you against his chest, swaying gently to the music.
You melt against him completely, your chest swelling from love and happiness as you slip your free hand to the back of his neck.
"You're everything I ever wished for" he mumbled, pecking your lips. "I never thought I'd love a person this much"
"The feeling is mutual" you smiled, stealing a kiss from him.
"So, you're saying you love me?" He asked, teasingly.
"I do love you" you laugh, curling your arms around his neck while he held your waist.
"You're madly in love with me?"
"Yes" you nodded.
"Good" he hummed. "The feeling is mutual"
You swayed to the music as the song changed to a different one.
"Remember when we met?" He asked, breaking the minute silence.
"Yeah. You spilled a drink on me and offered to change shirts so I didn't have to wear the damp one" you laughed and Matt smiled, nodding
"I thought; wow, I'm going to marry this woman. And that scared me" he admitted. "Because, who thinks about marriage when they first meet someone?" He laughed, shaking his head. "But I still think the same"
"That you're going to marry me?" You asked, feeling your heart race.
"Yeah"
"Does it scare you?"
"No. I actually can't to wait to call you my wife"
You were so lost in the moment with Matt, that you didn't realise the people around you were watching you with sparklers in their hands. You notice it when Matt pulls away and reaches into his pocket, before kneeling down. People gasped and whispered over the little terrace.
"Would you do me a favour and marry me, so I call you my wife? I want to spend my life with you, it could be here, it could be in the biggest in the world, it doesn't matter. Will you marry me?"
"Yes!" You nod, throwing yourself into his arms, everyone cheered as you kissed him with all the love you had for him.
