Matt had no idea what ring he wanted to get. He wasn't afraid to admit that he googled ideas. He wanted it to be perfect, because to him, you deserved the best. You usually groaned at him when he came home with a Pandora bag, because you knew he spent money on something that you didn't need. Sometimes he went overboard.
You couldn't tell him to take it back, because the look on his face melted you. He loved treating you, and he loved to watch your face light up when you looked at the diamond bracelet in the box.
He couldn't wait to see your face when he pulled the ring from its box. His heart raced every time he thought about it. It raced with excitement and nerves because he'd be marrying you. His best friend and his soul mate.
He needed to get the ring as soon as possible...

Matt hopped up on the counter beside the cooker, where you were cooking. The bacon was sizzling in the pan, the eggs were frying, the beans were cooking in the microwave, and the toast jumped from the toaster. It made Matt feel homely, and he fell more in love with you.
"What time did you say Chris and Madi were coming for breakfast?" You asked, as he hit his feet off the cupboards under his feet. You flipped the bacon and rested your hand on his leg. "What time are you going out? What time is Nick coming by?" You asked and watched as he ran his hand through his hair.
"Nick will be here at 11. Madi and Chris are coming soon" He smiled and rested his hand on yours. "I should be home early. Nick wants to get a present for Mom. He saw something and wants my input" he laughed and you raised an eyebrow.
"You have a pretty interesting taste in things" you smiled, turning the dials on the cooker. "Our house is pretty much, isn't it?" You laughed and watched him jump off the counter.
"You had some input....your ideas were just not in my state of mind" he teased and wrapped his arms around your waist. "This smells good, you know? Nothing better than a good smelling kitchen" he winked and nuzzled his nose against your forehead.
"I'd rather have your ideas, Matt. You have a great brain" you sighed, cupping the back of his neck. He was thoughtful and his ideas made you think differently. "It makes me love you even more" you smiled and he leaned down to go in for a kiss.
"Ah-ah. I suggest we go change because you can't eat in your boxers" you laughed and he groaned. "I can't eat breakfast in just a shirt and your boxers, can I?" You told him, and he smirked. "Don't be disgusting. Get upstairs and shower, we have twenty minutes" you smiled and he pulled away from you.
~
"Thanks for the breakfast. Nick is outside, so I'm going to go. Call me if you need me, okay?" Matt smiled, walking into the kitchen. Chris was sat eating the breakfast and Madi was stood making coffee. "I love you. Have a great day"
"We'll take care of her, Matt. Don't worry" Chris smirked and Matt gave him a sarcastic laugh. "I wasn't kidding. We won't tie her up or anything" he smiled, continuing to eat his breakfast.
"Okay...I feel unsafe leaving you here with him" Matt joked and leaned down to kiss your head. "I love you. I might get you a snack if Nick doesn't mind going to Walmart" he laughed and you looked up at him.
"You don't have to. I still have that chocolate from Christmas. You can help me eat it later, when we have a movie night" you smiled as he kissed your cheek. "I love you. Go have fun with Nick" you smiled, tapping his cheek. You heard a car horn, and you could only imagine Nick groaning because Matt wasn't out of the house yet. "Matt, go"
"I'm going, I'm going" he laughed. "Have a good day" he smiled and straightened back up, smiling as Madi placed two cups on the table. "Don't kill her...she may be annoying, but I don't want bloodstains on the carpet and the walls" Matt teased and you hit his arm lightly.
"Go, Matt" you hissed and he laughed, shuffling out of the room. A few minutes later, the sound of the front door closing and the sound of a car engine roaring to life filtered through the house.
~
Matt panicked when his mind raced to the thought of fans following him. If they caught him going into Pandora, it would be everywhere before he got home. He knew as soon as they got a glimpse of him, they'd tag you and he'd be screwed.
He couldn't have you finding out. It was three days until he was going to propose and he needed to keep it a secret until then. He wanted to ask you straight away, as soon as he got home, but he wanted to make it perfect and he wasn't giving up until he thought of a great idea.
"Matt? We're here" He heard Nick say, and Nate laughed as Matt jumped from his daydream. "Are you okay? What are you thinking of?" Nick asked, squeezing his arm.
"I'm fine. Just, thinking" he laughed as Nate opened up the back door to climb out. "Do you think we'll get noticed? I can't let that happen. If Y/N finds out, she'll ask questions and I can't tell her" Matt panicked and Nick rubbed his arm, laughing softly.
"Matt, don't worry. We'll go in quick, okay? If fans end up surrounding us, we'll call security or something" Nick told him and Matt nodded. He hoped today would go smoothly. "Stop worrying, okay? Nate will be on the lookout. You know what you want, so go and get it" Nick smiled, taking off his seatbelt.
"Thanks for coming today. If I told Mom, she'd probably blab to Y/N and ask her if I proposed yet. Chris would probably blab too and Y/N would get suspicious. I trust you more" Matt smiled and Nick nudged him softly, before there was a tapping noise on the window.
Nate stood beside the car, smirking and pointing to the store. "Let's go!" He laughed and Matt took off his seatbelt and opened up the car door.

"Hello, Matt. It's lovely to see you again" the cashier smiled as she walked up to Matt. His body was leaned over the counter as he scanned the different rings inside. "Are we going to be buying a ring today?" She asked as Matt lifted his hand.
"Just looking. I'm not too sure on a specific ring right now" he told her and she laughed softly. He had his mind set on one, but now he wanted to buy one today. He wanted you to like it and he was afraid of your rejection. "I was set on one but I don't know if it's the right one. Will she love it? Will she hate it?" Matt sighed, running his hand through his hair.
"Matt, if she loves you, it shouldn't matter what the ring is. Don't think like that. If she loves you, she'll definitely say yes" The woman smiled, as Nick walked over with Nate.
"Dude, you're worrying over nothing. She loves you. She always looks lost when she's not with you. When she goes on tour with you and you go to the bathroom, she's gloomy" Nate laughed, patting Matt on the back. "She'll say yes, I promise"
"We all love her, Matt and we can see how much she loves you" Nick smiled. "She's a keeper, Matt and we couldn't be happier. She'll be happy with any ring" Nick laughed and smiled at the cashier.
"I think I might just have the one for you. Follow me" she smiled, and walked around to the opposite side of the counter. Matt could hear Nick and Nate talking behind him, and laughing as they rounded the corner. "This one is a favourite, but no one seems to buy it. It's either too pricy or the men don't take their women have good taste" she laughed, unlocking a cabinet.
"She'd love all of these" he mumbled, scanning the glass counter. When the cashier pulled out the ring, Matt knew it was the one. It wasn't too big and it didn't draw attention to anything. He knew you'd like it. And he knew it was one he could see on your finger for the rest of your life.
"I'll take this one..."
