(Y/n) watched Childe down half his Fire Water, a drink ordered by Kaeya—yet again—since his presence was ignored by Diluc.
"Why?" The woman asked, her eyes trailing off to Diluc, her gaze asking Childe about the awkward tension between them.
The two sat away from the bar at a table across the room and near a window to give them a view of the outside labyrinth of rose hedges.
A chuckle escaped the demon's chapped lips, "Let's just say he's one to hold onto grudges all the way to the grave." He joked as he attempted to pet Leaf who squirmed on his lap, seemingly wanting to jump into (Y/n)'s arms.
"You seem like the type to do things that deserve others holding grudges against."
A pathetically fake pout make it's way onto Childe's lips, "Hey now, I'm not the kind of demon you believe me to be."
"I would've been fooled if you didn't threaten to behead me when we first met."
"That was just the consequences of your own actions, koshka."
(Y/n) narrowed her eyes, "Why do you keep calling me that? What does it even mean?" She grumbled when the demon wagged his index finger at her.
"Now now, enough questions. Let's get started on our game." He changed the subject and leaned forward a bit in his seat.
Leaf found the demon's lap to be uncomfortable and simply jumped onto the table and walked across to (Y/n) before settling down onto her lap, resembling the shape of a loaf.
The human let out a sigh of satisfaction when she saw the dejected look on Childe's face and gently petted Leaf. "We haven't even started a game and you look defeated." She chuckled.
The man clad in grey let out a low chuckle, "Not for long. I'll be nice though, we can play a simple game. Whoever wins the most rounds out of eleven is the winner."
(Y/n) cocked up an eyebrow, 'Eleven rounds seems abundant.' She thought to herself.
"Okay then... what game will we play?"
"Just a simple game of rock, paper, scissors."
Childe smiled when he saw the exasperated look on her face; he knew he'd be in for a treat.
"Uh okay then." She muttered and sat up straight. She didn't know where the itching feeling of irritation came from, but she could assume it was the product of him treating her like a child. From the pinky promise, down to the games to decide the fate of her cat. However, she wasn't stupid to forget about the warnings from Itto and Ayato. The man before her was a wild card.
She took a sip of her drink to soothe her dry throat and ignored the way how his dull blue eyes seemingly pierced every part of her skin it gazed at. The human was more nervous than what she initially showed.
"Ready?" He held his fist up, resting it on the palm of his other hand.
She was sure he was throwing on purpose.
Absolutely sure.
But how could he be able to perfectly predict her choices of action to purposely throw the game?
The poker face he had didn't help either.
She had won four rounds back to back.
"You're pretty good, koshka." The dull compliment matched the expressionless face of his. It was as if Alhaitham complimented her, except compliments from the Avatar of Sloth were extremely rare and more of an acute observation he'd make (which happen to please her).
