The crunching noises of boots stepping on the rocky path was a pleasant sound. The noises of them walking on the path filled the gaps that silence left in its presence, which was suffocating, just like the odd tension between the four of them.

(Y/n) followed Childe who led the group towards their destination. Behind her were Diluc and Kaeya. Red eyes on a look out for potential creatures lurking about, while a singular periwinkle eye looked around boredly.

(Y/n) had to guess that the tension stemmed from Childe who was cranky from the get-go.

Due to having plenty of time to kill she decided to attempt starting a conversation. "Are you still butthurt about losing to Zhongli?" She nearly walked into his back when the ginger suddenly stopped and glared at her over his shoulder.

Perhaps she should've chosen another topic.

"He sure is. He can't handle losing." Kaeya confirmed.

"Tch." The ginger only continued walking. He was annoyed but had centuries to recognize when his sin was pulling the strings at his state of mind, like a manipulator. Some of them accepted their sins with open arms, which led to them being able to coexist with it, but others like him were in an endless battle against it.

He wasn't worried about what greed made him feel, he was worried about what greed could make him do. He'd seen what he was capable of once he'd let go of the reins of his mind to his sin.

The group was lucky that their trip to the ley lines alined with his current objectives. Childe was one of the few who loved to interact with the overworld, it's where he'd get most of his food. Humans were very fickle things, and as the Demon of Greed he was able to manipulate them into giving him their soul for their object of attraction in return.

The avatars weren't immune to their sin, it was their punishment after all, but that didn't mean they had a one-sided relationship with it. They embodied their sin, and knew how to abuse its power against their prey.

(Y/n) watched as he continued to lead the group. Her mind wandered off as she thought about the Avatar of Greed before her. It all made sense. The way he acted like everything he had was his property, that he'd gamble for the things he wanted, and that he was willing to kill her for trespassing into his territory.

His behavior made her more curious about names, specifically the traits that was seared into their skin.

"What exactly does it mean to be an avatar?" She felt the eyes of the demons behind her look her direction.

"It means to be the embodiment of something." Kaeya hummed and picked up his pace to reach her side, leaving Diluc to take up the back of the group.

"Curious about us?" A smile appeared on his face, but it didn't reach his eye.

The woman nodded, "Of course. A mere human like me wouldn't understand the workings of Hell."

Her response garnered a chuckle from the navy haired demon, "I suppose you're right about that. You're quite intriguing, most humans would be terrified of us."

A skeptical look flashed over (Y/n)'s features as she turned her attention to him, "Terrified? You all don't seem to be that scary."
