The trio quickly made their way through the woods. Their job was done, they had witnessed the gate open. They would've stayed longer but the battle between the reaper and archangel wouldn't have drag out for too long. It didn't help that they had other concerns to worry about, such as the other angels that came with Barbatos that flew off.

(Y/n) didn't know why but she had a gut feeling that something bad was about to happen. The faster she got back to the seven's territory the better. She had to see Zhongli to report that she had kept up her side of the deal.

"So much for us minding our own business... who do those angels think they are flying around like mosquitos in Hell?!" Itto complained as he followed the witch and her familiar back to the mansion.

"Honesty." (Y/n) agreed with a huff, "I hope Zhongli puts them in their place this time. It's overkill for them to send that many angels after me if I'm the target." Now that she thought about it, it was suspicious to see that many. It was also odd that Barbatos seemed aware of her presence back at the gate but didn't send his fellow angels after her. She frowned when she had a realization.

It was possible that her prediction of Celestia targeting the demons in order to get to her was spot on. They were probably going to attempt going after their weaknesses. With no more demons to protect the Sacrificial Witch she'd be easy game.

(Y/n) clenched her fists and ran faster through the woods. She hoped all the troublemakers were back at the mansion. Things could get tricky if they were scattered. She had a faint idea of which possible weaknesses each demon had that could be exploited by the angels.

She just hoped she'd get there in time.

Suddenly her path was blocked when she saw a figure donning a white cloak in their path up ahead. She skidded to a stop along with the two beside her.

"Hey, move it! We're in a hurry here!" Itto snapped.

The cloaked person let out a sigh before shaking their head, "I see you're as impatient as ever." The angel, despite sounding exasperated by Itto's antics let out a short and nearly inaudible laugh before pulling their hood down to reveal a woman with green hair and purple eyes.

The white haired demon only looked at her with confusion in his red orbs. "Who are you...?"

Although his words came out as if he was speaking to a stranger, something within him squirmed with familiarity.

"Kuki Shinobu." She answered honestly, her eyes held no deceit but utmost transparency.

(Y/n) glanced over to Itto when he fell silent. It was as if he never scolded the stranger for blocking their path moments ago. His uncharacteristic silence made both (Y/n) and Dainsleif uncomfortable. There was some sort of unknown connection between the Avatar of Envy and the woman before them.

Shinobu's eyes searched for any signs of recognition in the red eyes of her old friend, but found none. Her frown was hidden behind the mask that hid half her features. She only knew little of what kind of sin her friend... her boss had been inflicted with. Although if memory loss was part of it... then it sure was one hell of a punishment. Itto was always the sentimental type, the memories he shared with their little gang meant the world to him. At the same time, perhaps it was also a blessing in disguise.

After all... their last moments together were traumatizing and she knew that he would never be able to forgive himself for it.

"Do I... know you?" The oni's eyes met her's and she smiled in response.
