The forest waseerilyquiet as the group walked toward the lab. Rose felt every fiber in her being to tell her not to go back there.
Will. Joyce. Hopper. They need her.
If those dogs got anywhere close to the lab they were in danger.
Jean.
God, she really hoped Jean wasn't there. The back of her mind tells her that she's wrong.
Rose stared down at the ground falling behind in the group. She chewed on her bottom lip hearing the rustling of the wind through the trees.
Max and Lucas kept talking as they walked, Dustin just longingly looking at Max. Steve glanced back seeing the girls stare down towards the ground. He slowed his walking to be able to walk beside her. He bumbed her shoulder into hers catching her attention. She glanced up, her eyes spaced away.
"They'll be okay." Rose could tell he was just trying to say it to make her feel better. Neither of them truly knew what was going on in those walls.
"I hope so." She muttered, stepping over a branch. Steve pursed his lips, not finding the words to say. He felt so out of place. Even though he signed the papers like everyone else last year. He never felt included. But with Rose, he did.
"The stars are bright tonight." Steve stared up walking carefully so he doesn't trip. Rose glanced over seeing him staring upwards. She followed his motions, staring up.
He was right.
The bright stars shined through the branches as they walked. The stars followed them from above, never seeming to be moving.
"Yeah...they are." She whispered. "They're beautiful." She felt herself calming down, a ghost of a smile spreading on her face. Steve heard her words looking over at her.
"Yeah..." He sighed out staring at her, when she looked down he snapped his eyes away. They were coming to a clearing. Rose glanced when he wasn't looking, staring at his profile. She could see the freckles on his neck as he stared ahead. She sucked in a breath tearing her eyes away.
Rose shined her light seeing the trees begin to thin.
"Hello? Whos there?" A voice called out. The group all broke through the trees seeing Nancy and Johnathan standing at the gate to the lab.
"Steve?" They both said in surprised union. Nancy opened her mouth then noticed Rose walk out behind him.
"Rose?" She questioned again, Rose waved.
"Nancy?"
"Johnathan." Dustin stated. They all met on the lawn, surprised to find each other there.
"What are you doing here?" Nancy asks.
"What are you doing here?" Steve fires back.
"We're looking for Mike and Will." Roses face fell.
