Running into the forest might not have been the best idea. As soon as she ran into the dark forest she immediately regretted it.
The wind stopped. It was so quiet.
She could hear her own heavybreathing, and her crunching of leaves.
A twig snapped and her head snapped to the side. She stopped movinglistening around her.
She heard the battle cry before she could react. She fell onto her stomach crying out. The monsterscratched down her back, ripping open her shirt.
Tears stung behind her eyes.
Its mouth latched onto her shoulder. Its sharp teachespricked her skin. She yelled out flipping her body over. The monster screeching out. Nine got to her knees making a move to grab her bag.
Knife.
Knife in the bag.
She ripped it to her, her body aching.
The mostster stood back up on its four legs. Growling lowly. Her ownblooddripping from its mouth.
She tore open her bag, kicking it when it jumped for her again. She grabbed hold of the knife swinging it down onto the creatures leg. It whimped, its face opening to scream at her. She gritted her teeth bringing the knife down onto its body dragging it down. Black bloodsquirted onto her face.
It whimpered, then fell limp. Black blood staining the leaves around it. Her knees became wet with blood. Her shoulders slumped, the knife sticking out of its side. The open gash still leaking blood.
Nine looked down at her blood covered hands. Then the pain flared up.
She triedto stand but her back pleaded her not too. She couldn't even look over her shoulder to see the damage. A stream of blood ran down her arms to her fingers, mixing withthe black blood. She fell back from her knees, she could feel her skin thumping around her wounds.
She let the tears fall, hugging her knees.
She cried. And cried. And cried. Under the cracking lightening and red sky.
Another twig snapped.
Her head shot up, her blood shot eyes searching through the dark forest.
