"You don't love him Nancy! You know that as much as I do! He's hurting, let him go. Just admit that you're in love with Johnathan and let Steve go." Rose doesn't know why she's fighting so hard for this. Nancy huffs out a breath of air...

The months passed by in a slow blur. Rose continued waking up in the middle of the night opting to stare up at her created starry night. Or she would read, sometimes she would pick up the book Steve got her for Christmas. Steve made it an occasion to come to the cabin every Friday night. Jim would normally be off at work, the one time he did catch Steve over all he did was offer the boy a beer. Steve politely declined, and Jim nodded in approval.
The three would watch movies, El because determined to introduce all of her favorite movies to Steve. Then through about halfway of the movie Rose would fall asleep leaning against Steve. The two never mentioned it, Steve never even mentioned that he knew about her troubles through the night. So he let her sleep on him, pulling her close keeping away the nightmares.
Steve's crush on the girl only grew each time her body was pressed against his. He found himself falling deeper, and deeper for her. It was starting to scare him. He would always meet her at lunch, and the two would joke and banter, sometimes complete homework. And each time when she left to go to art class he found himself watching her go.
Rose wasn't doing any better. She knew of her tendency to fall asleep during the movie. She started to try and fight it but it never worked. For some reason sleeping near him kept away her dreams about her dead siblings, One, shadow monsters and red skies. She would deny any accusation that she was beocming more and more comfortable around the boy. But any person with eyes could see that there was something going on. There's been something going on ever since Rose clung onto Steve after Jean died.
The weather got warmer, and the skies grew lighter. The entire town was buzzing about the mall that was opening up sometime in June. As the months got to May, Roses makeshift birthday only came closer then she would have liked. Rose didn't even remember it was her birthday until Eleven jumped on her bed.
"Wake up! Wake up!" Eleven shook Roses shoulders violently. Rose groaned picking up her pillow to put over her head. The pillow was quickly ripped from her hands. Rose groaned peeking to seeing the girls grinning face. "Its your birthday!" Eleven shook Rose again. Truthfully Eleven was using Roses birthday as an excuse to celebrate her own. On her fake birth certificate her birthday already passed and Hopper refused to let her celebrate it early claiming 'itll ruin the fun'.
"Really? I had no idea." Rose mumbled, shutting her eyes again. Eleven scoffed pulling Roses covers off her body. "I will kill you. I can make you deaf, you know that right." She threatened. Eleven grinned with a shrug of her shoulders.
"El stop bothering your sister."
"But its her birthday."
"I need my beauty rest." Rose mumbled turning onto her back.
"You're going to look the same." Eleven stated glancing over at her.
"I can't tell if that was a compliment or not." Rose yawned stretching her legs.
