"You don't love him Nancy! You know that as much as I do! He's hurting, let him go. Just admit that you're in love with Johnathan and let Steve go." Rose doesn't know why she's fighting so hard for this. Nancy huffs out a breath of air...

The snow crunched under Roses feet as she walked. A hat pushed onto her head, and her coat zipped up to her neck to block out the cold. It was Christmas Eve. The snow was coming down heavily.
Rose saw her house in view picking up her pace to get their quicker. Rose ran up the steps, her arms wrapped around herself.
When she opened her door, light flooded out. The fireplace was lit, making the room smell of smoke. She shivered shrugging off her coat and hat. She hung them against the wall.
The Christmas tree was set in the corner. The rainbow lights lit, and glowing bright. She smiled walking up to it. Her and Jean had gone shopping for the ornaments for Roses first Christmas. The ornaments were random, but they were hers. She smiled her fingers brushing up against the rose ornament. It was a glossy red, and the petals were rosy and perfectly placed.
"Rose?" Jean called from the kitchen. Rose turned away from the tree walking into the kitchen with a bright smile.
"Hey Jean." The teen went and kissed the woman's cheek. Jean smiled at the girl, she was busy stirring the mashed potatoes. Rose made it her job to set the table.
She grabbed three sets setting them around the table. Rose walked back over to the kitchen island grabbing the bowl of rolls.
"You know this food could feed a village right?" She asked with a grin, she grabbed the bowl turning to set it in the middle of the table. Careful to avoid the two red candle sticks as decorations. Jean sighed wiping her hands on the blue apron around her waist.
"I know, I went a tad over board."
"A tad?" Jean tutted hitting the girl in the arm. Rose laughed carrying the cooked ham over to the table. Reaching over to the island, she grabbed and put the carver on the table. Jean picked up the pot of mashed potatoes setting them on the hot pad left on the table.
Rose reached up in the cupboards grabbing a glass. She opened the freezer, bending the ice tray to loosen the cubes of ice. Jean set the salad, the small bowl of turkey, and the bowl of veggies all onto the table. Rose took three peices of ice setting them into her cup and filling it with water.
The door opened, a wall of cold air hitting the pair. Rose let the glass fall from her lips, setting it at her place on the table. Jim took off his hat, blowing out a gust of air. Jean went to greet him in the doorway. The two hugging, the older women patted his back with a smile. Jean pushed him into the kitchen, Jim protesting as she did so.
"Oh hush!" She shushed making Rose and Jim laugh. Jim stood on the other side of the island from Rose.
"Shes bossy." He whispered to the girl. Jean looked up glaring at the two.
"Its the old age." Rose whispered back, Jim chuckling but covering his mouth. Rose grinned over to Jean who was glaring at the girl. Jean shook her head at the girl, but couldn't fight the grin that spread across her face. Rose laughed hugging Jean. "I'm kidding, you don't look a day iver 40." She joked again. Jean scoffing pushing the girl away with a swat of her hand.
