i scoffed, "what do you mean we can't stay here, daryl? this man helped us! he didn't have to but he did!" i whisper shouted to him so i wouldn't wake the others up.

he put his hands up in mock surrender. "look. i know, i know that this sounds crazy but, just think about it. it's just one guy." he tried to reason with me. "one guy."

"it just doesn't make sense, you know? he gave us food to eat. he let us shower. get clean. stay hydrated."

"i know. you can go back to sleep if you want. i don't know if glenn's up or not. i'm assuming y'all didn't have sex tonight?" he smirked at his own words.

i hit him on his arm. "daryl!" i scolded him. "that is not your business. and no, we did not." i crossed my arms over my chest like a little child.

he laughed, "i'm just messing with ya'."

i scoffed, "go to sleep daryl. i'm assuming we'll both have hangovers tomorrow." i laughed silently as he gave me a look.

"you know i don't really sleep all that much. i gotta keep watch out. even if it means we're safe in here. you just never know." he shook his head.

"alright, well...just—just try to get some sleep, daryl. you'll feel a whole lot better if ya' do." i gave him a small smile as i walked down the hallway.

i wasn't go to sleep just yet. i had to check on carol. see if she was okay. i got to her door and opened it. "carol?" i whispered.

"yeah?" she answered back.

"just checking to see if you and sophia were doing alright." i couldn't see her but i knew she had a smile on her face.

"we're doing great. it's great here. i'm sure it'll be a great home. goodnight, presley."

"goodnight. see ya' in the morning."
