. CHAPTER EIGHT
🖤🖤🖤

what was matt taking so long?

matt put his phone into his back pocket when he saw the blonde girl approaching from afar. the smile on his face could've been seen miles away as his face simply lit up at the sight of her. he couldn't deny his feelings anymore. he knew he liked her. there was just something about her that made his heart flutter and roam around his stomach like a butterfly.

"hey, matt." she spoke up as she reached the excited boy, who's eyes practically glistened when she send him a flash of her beautiful smile.

"hey." matt says while the two of them continue to walk along the hallways of the school. they walked besides each other in comfortable silence but it was pretty obvious that both of them had something on their mind.

"i've been thinking." the blonde girl exclaims as she looked up at the brunette boy, who immediately put his full attention onto her. when she suddenly stopped walking, matt halted in his spot with his nerves racking up and down.

"i really like you, matt."

his heart stopped. it stopped in that very moment and glided down his body like melted jelly. he felt it in every inch of his body as it went everywhere across his skin. he was afraid it would come through his skin and melt him completely down until nothing was left of him.

the smile on his face couldn't even compare to the bright sun shining through the windows of the school.

he felt like the luckiest guy in the school.

"i like you too, stacy."

"maybe it's time for you both to put that aside."

elaine was anxiously chewing on her bottom lip as she stood in front of the debate club room. she knew behind those walls where matt and mr. carlson currently waiting for her but she couldn't stop thinking about what chris said.

it was now or never.

her hand reached out for the door handle, grabbing tightly onto it but she didn't get the courage to pull it down to open it up.

elaine was afraid. she was scared of how matt would react. what if he didn't wanted truce? what if he would laugh at her? get angry at her? ignore her? yell at her?

what if he didn't wanted to be friends?

she deeply breathed one last time in before she pulled the handle down and opened up the door. her eyes immediately caught sight of matt sitting inside his chair. his eyes focused onto his phone and for once in his life, he had a smile on his face.

elaine was slightly taken back by his happy state but she didn't complain as she walked inside and closed the door gently behind her.

she also took notice that mr. carlson wasn't here yet.

this was her chance.

"maybe it's time for you both to put that aside."

elaine cleared her throat, "hey."
