. CHAPTER FOURTEEN

"where did you get this?"

"don't ask."

matt squinted his eyes into elaine's direction as he stepped inside the passenger seat of the car.

he didn't know how the hell she got a car, but he was happy that they had one.

"i just hope this isn't illegal." matt sighs out while he put his seatbelt on and got comfortable for the long car ride.

"not this time." elaine grinned back at him as she drove back out of the parking spot while matt released a snort at her choice of words.

they drove in comfortable silence with music playing from the radio, since it wasn't able to connect to either one of their phones.

"what do we do about this?" matt suddenly spoke up as he took the wanted flyer of them out of his bag which made elaine's eyes widen.

"why did you fucking keep it?" she rambles out while taking her eyes away from the road which made matt scold her as he slapped her shoulder.

"i don't know." matt mutters, confused with himself while he send a simple shrug towards the blonde girl who scoffed at him.

"throw it away, right now."

"where?" matt says with disbelief as he send a glare into her direction which made elaine roll her eyes as she pressed a button that made matt's window go down.

he spared a glance into her direction before he threw it out of the window, watching as it flew around and right up into the sky.

elaine closed the window back up with a satisfied smile.

"but seriously, what do we do?" matt asks once again while angling his body towards her.

elaine gave him a quick look, seeing the actual worry that went through the brunette boy.

"we can't really do anything. i'm not gonna report myself to the police and end up in jail or some shit." elaine forces a chuckle as she gripped tighter onto the steering wheel, "besides i don't think these flyers exist outside of dallas."

"i hope you're right." matt responds to her last words with a sigh while he leaned back into his seat, to look at the bypassing view through the car window.

"i'm always right." elaine decided to joke to lighten up his mood but he only shook his head at her before completely focusing on the outside view.

a small frown came across elaine's face at that reaction but she decided to push the way she felt aside while she focused back on driving the car.

when the warning came that the fuel was about to run out and there wasn't any gas station nearby, the two freaked out once again.

"we're gonna be fucking stranded and get abducted!"

"the car will make it!" elaine argued back as she rolled her eyes at matt's dramatic words.

they have been arguing for at least 10 minutes now after the car gave the warning out and ever since then, matt couldn't stop panicking as he was very close to running circles inside his seat.
