. CHAPTER THIRTY ONE
🖤🖤🖤the week went by quicker than she thought and elaine found herself again back inside school on the last school day for this week, friday. she kept telling herself that it was almost summer break, and not to mention, her last year ever. these small thoughts kept her going through the day.
her eyes wander around the hallway, scrunching her face up with disgust when she saw one of those couples. she didn't needed to see sloppy make outs at seven in the morning, and especially not when she was currently holding a grudge against her own lover.
after steve left the ice rink last saturday, he didn't answer any of her texts and even ignored her calls. he didn't even show up to school for the whole week, at least she didn't find him. elaine was determined to find out what her boyfriend had to do, that he couldn't even answer his phone.
much to her surprise, she found him sitting completely on his own inside the goddamn library. which was odd for someone like steve, he was a pretty much outgoing person and he had a very bubbly personality. he was always around his friends, laughing and cracking jokes and not alone on his own in a library.
"steve?" elaine asks as she came to a stop by the table he was sitting on, his head hanging low while he was buried in a book.
his eyes snapped up at the mention of his name and elaine didn't miss the way, his eyes widened a tad bit more at the sight of her.
"hey."
"hey?" elaine asks with her eyebrows raised while she crossed her arms over her chest, "i hope you have a good explanation for why you've been ignoring me all weekend."
steve closed the book inside his hands and stood up from his chair, stuffing it inside of it before he swung it around his shoulder. he looked back at elaine, who stood there and waited for an answer. he sighed before speaking, "can we talk after school, please?"
she couldn't help the frown that came over her face. he was acting incredibly odd and he didn't looked that good either. she could see the color under his eyes have darkened since the last time she saw him, his eyes looked rather red and puffy and he looked absolutely exhausted. for some reason, she had the feeling something bad happened but she didn't wanted to annoy him with questions.
"okay. meet me at your car?" she asks carefully while her annoyed demeanor fell as she put a small smile onto her face.
"yeah." he only replied before storming off, not even sparing her another glance as he left the library in a hurry.
she looked after him with worry, she knew that something was up and she desperately hoped that he would open up to her after school. cause she could tell that something was bothering him endlessly.

elaine couldn't focus at all.
she couldn't stop thinking about how upset steve seemed, she just couldn't get it out of her head. she wasn't someone who had a lot of patience, sure she could wait a few minutes but a whole school day? that was absolute hell for her.
her fingers kept tapping onto the table as she chewed on her lips, not even noticing that she was slowly biting them bloody. her eyes wandered around the class room, not being able to even zone out with how much it all bothered her. her teacher kept on rambling about-she didn't even know what-while he showed something on the board up front. but she couldn't understand a word he was saying, she felt like she was drowning as her eyes constantly went to the clock that hung on the wall, almost mocking her with how slow time seemed to be passing.
