. CHAPTER NINE
🖤🖤🖤"i think you two should spend a day with each other."
"what?" elaine's eyes widened as she turned around on her makeup chair and looked over at cinzia who was laying, sprawled out on her bed.
"zia is right." vera added as she rolled onto her stomach to look at the blonde girl, "for you and matt to get comfortable with each other...you two should hang out."
"alone?" elaine chuckles out in disbelief as she pointed at herself, "me and matt?"
vera and cinzia exchanged a look between each other before they both looked back at her.
"yes."
and this is how it came that elaine levine was currently sitting inside matt sturniolo's mini van.
something she would've never seen coming, if she was being honest.
after an awkward exchange over messages, where elaine changed his contact name to 'matt', and an even more awkward exchange when they greeted each other and drove off to hang out.
the two of them felt the mutual feeling of complete awkwardness swaying through the thick air inside the car. but what where they supposed to say?
"so...how is it going?" elaine immediately grimaced at her own choice of words as she refused to look over at matt, because she knew his face couldn't have been any different than her own one.
"good. uh...you?" matt replied back with a grimace of his own as he grabbed more tight onto the steering wheel.
"great." elaine bluntly answers with a head nod, mostly to herself.
"cool."
"yeah."
the car stopped on the red light which made the situation even more uncomfortable.
elaine inhaled as she decided to steal a glance at matt only for her to discover the way his fingers drummed along the steering wheel. but not in boredom, it rather seemed stressed. her eyebrows furrowed when she saw his eyes looking through every mirror in the car as he couldn't seem to hold his nerves for much longer.
it took her a few more seconds before she connected the dots.
matt was anxious.
did he have anxiety?
how come she never knew?
or rather noticed.
elaine looked back at the red light which seemed to be taking it's time to turn green.
when matt's breathing started picking up, she knew that she needed to do something.
"alright, cut the crap. what's going on with you and stacy winter?" elaine rambles out with her body fully angling itself towards the brunette boy, who looked rather surprised at her sudden confidence.
"uh..." matt mumbles out as he suddenly grew slightly nervous which made a small grin appear on elaine's face.
"shit, dude. you're whipped."
"i am not!" matt scoffed back as he turns his head over towards elaine, who noticed his lack of stress pass by any second.
"i am not!" elaine mocked after matt which made his jaw quite literally drop, as surprised giggles soon left his mouth, after he saw the blonde girl starting to laugh at his shocked face.
