Four Months Later

Dean woke up, blinking a few times to adjust his eyes. He sat up and stretched before remembering he crashed at the Salvatore house after hunting for two weeks straight. He made his way downstairs as his stomach grumbled. The hunger was becoming a really annoying side effect of his new abilities.

"Dad," Dean called out, reaching the bottom step.

"In here."

Dean turned the corner, leading to the kitchen where Damon was fixing a plate of food. He could feel his stomach grumble bitterly at not being fed.

"Hungry," Damon asked, placing the plate of food on the counter for him.

"Starving," Dean said, grabbing the plate as his mouth watered, "How long was I out for?"

"Three days. Nearly gave me a heart-attack when you didn't wake up," Damon sighed.

"Where's Sammy," Dean asked, shoving his mouth full of bacon.

"He's out with Kai. They're doing a job together right now," Damon said, turning to face him, "Dean, I think you should take a break from hunting for a while. You've been at it for three months now unless you're sleeping, shitting, or eating."

"I would, but I've gotten so much stronger and I'm learning to control my abilities now," Dean said, "Then there's the rush..."

"It feels nice. I know," Damon interrupted, "But you need rest."

"I sleep," Dean protested.

"Not just sleeping, Dean. You know what I mean," Damon reasoned, handing him a cup of coffee.

"It's like the same thing," Dean argued, knowing he meant relaxing.

"No, it's not, and you know that," Damon said sternly, "Seriously. No more hunting until you've rested. Got it?"

"Yes, Father," Dean sassed, holding out his plate for more food.

Damon took the plate to fill it back up. A knock on the door made Dean get up to answer it. Klaus stood there with a smile.

"Klaus, I wasn't expecting you," Dean said, tilting his head curiously.

"I got news you had woken up," Klaus said, stepping inside.

"Who did you kill to get that information so quickly," Dean sassed, closing the door behind him.

"Me? I would never," Klaus teased.

"Right, because you're such a saint now," Dean teased back, "You turned over a new leaf."

"I'm a law-abiding citizen living to do the lord's work," Klaus taunted, making Dean huff out a laugh.

"What brings you here," Dean asked.

"Is it so wrong of me to check on my favorite friend," Klaus said.

"I'm your only friend."

"First of all, I have plenty of friends because people love me," Klaus scoffed.

"The only people that love you are your siblings," Dean said bluntly, "Everyone else tolerates you because they're scared."

"That is where you're wrong. We both know how much you cherish my companionship, Dean," Klaus teased, "No need to pretend with me. I won't tell."
