Chapter 38- Reuniting With Adam

Dean found Lucien speaking casually with Adam... Or at least it looked like Adam. It could still be Michael riding Adam's meat suit, so he kept his guard up.

"Lucien..."

Lucien and Adam turned to face Dean. He looked back and forth between them, trying to understand what was going on. Lucien smiled as Dean approached.

"Dean, you remember Adam, right," Lucien asked.

"Of course, I do," Dean said, looking at him, "Is something wrong here?"

"Well, first things first, do you have anything you'd like to say," Lucien asked, hinting at him to apologize.

"Is this Michael or Adam," Dean asked.

"Well technically it's both of us," Adam said, shrugging, "But Michael won't do anything. We figured out a system in hell, so now we pretty much work together. At the moment, it's more of me, Adam."

Dean scanned over him a little. Then he held out his arms for a hug. Adam slowly hugged him as a smile grew on his face.

"I'm so glad you're okay," Dean said, giving him a light squeeze, "I'm sorry I couldn't save you. I tried to but... I couldn't find a way without letting Lucifer free. I didn't want to leave you behind... I never did."

Adam felt his eyes tear up a little. He cleared his throat and pulled away from Dean's hug.

"You... You look good," Adam smiled, making Dean chuckle a little.

"I've been better but thanks," Dean said, "You do too, kid. You look great... Happy."

"I am," Adam said, "So, uh, is there anything else happening? Sam?"

"He's good," Dean said, "Back at home. I'll let him know you said hi."

"Thanks. Listen, Dean, I... I forgive you, you know," Adam said, "I mean, at first I was pissed. Then over time, I let it go. It was better than holding it in and becoming like Lucifer. So I forgive you."

"You have no idea how much that means to me," Dean said sincerely.

"Michael wants to know is there anything else you needed," Adam said, "I guess you looked bothered a bit."

"Well, now that you mentioned it," Lucien said, including himself back into the conversation, "Do you know anything about Nephilim? Or the devil?"

"Lucifer? Yeah, we do," Adam said, "He's kind of a dick. But I heard right now, he's searching for another vessel. Something about him struggling to maintain them because they can't hold him."

"I highly doubt he'd try Sam again," Dean said.

"Not likely," Adam said, "Ever since Sam was able to mentally fight Lucifer, he's been off-put with trying again. But then again, you never know. Word has it, he's working with some demons in hell. Trying to make Nick his permanent vessel."

"I thought Nick..."

"Died? He did," Adam said, "At this point, he just wants to use his corpse."

Dean smothered an uneasy shiver at hearing that. He knows Crowley is ruling hell currently. Maybe he should call up his old frenemy and see what he can do about the demon situation.

"Thanks, Adam," Dean smiled.

"Sure thing," Adam said.

"Hey, one more thing, whatever you were doing, keep doing it," Dean said, "This whole angel mess, it isn't your fight. It shouldn't have been, to begin with. You deserve to be happy for once."

Adam smirked at him.

"Appreciate it, Dean," Adam said, "But I'm a Winchester. Since when do we get what we deserve?"

"When we fight for it," Dean said.

Adam stared at him for a minute. A mix of emotions was displayed in his gaze. Dean giving him the okay to fight for his own happiness was... Different. He nodded slowly.

"I will," Adam said, "As long as you do too."

Dean agreed with a grin. Adam's eyes flashed blue and his expression turned stoic, showing Michael took control again.

"Take care of him for me, Michael," Dean said, "Or I'll hunt you down."

Michael gave a small smile.

"I will, Winchester," Michael said.

He teleported away, taking Adam with him. Dean turned to Lucien.

"How am I not his type though," Lucien complained, "I'm still a bit offended!"

Dean rolled his eyes and went to his car.

"Come on, Lucien," Dean said, "Before I drag you back home."

Lucien glanced at Dean and went to his car to follow him.

Dean parked at the safehouse and walked inside, followed closely by Lucien.

"Is everything okay," Castiel asked.

"Well, because of Lucien's charms, we spoke to Michael and Adam," Dean teased, "We got an idea of where Lucifer is and what's going on. Apparently, he's working with demons to make Nick's corpse his permanent meat suit. So I was gonna have Sam give Crowley a ring to see what we can do about this before it works."

"Sounds like a plan," Klaus said.

"Good job, Lucien," Castiel said.
