Dean was on the phone with Sam after he explained his plan regarding Lucifer.
"No, no, no, and, wait for it, no," Dean snapped, "All it takes is one wrong move for this to go sideways, Sam. Then what are you going to do? Because it's not like we can stop him that easily!"
"Do you have any suggestions," Sam asked, "That doesn't involve an angelic war?"
"Yes, how about we find some other way to gank this asshole," Dean said.
"How, Dean," Sam asked, "At this point, we're pretty much putting Lucifer on witness protection from someone who isn't even after him! And as long as he believes Michael is after him, he remains peaceful."
Dean went silent and rubbed his face. Sam sounded so stressed out over the phone. It made him realize that maybe he put too much on his baby brother by leaving him with taking care of the hunts and Lucifer.
"Maybe I should come back," Dean suggested.
"No, Dean..."
"Sam, you sound tired and stressed out," Dean said, "More than usual, I should say. This was a bad idea."
"Dean, you are a father," Sam said.
"And I'm also an older brother and a son," Dean reasoned, "You shouldn't have this weight resting on your shoulders."
"We got it, Dean," Sam reassured, "Just take care of your family."
"You guys are my family," Dean said.
"We'll be okay," Sam sighed, "We're not amateurs. If I need some extra help, I'll let you know."
"Sounds good," Dean said, "Be careful, Sammy."
Sam hung up the phone as Dean sighed. Stiles knocked on the door, making him look up.
"Hey, Stiles," Dean said, straightening his posture.
"You seem upset," Stiles said, "Are you okay?"
"Um, yeah," Dean said, "Just some drama."
"What is it," Stiles asked.
"Nothing important," Dean said, "Need something?"
Stiles stared at him for a moment. Dean assumed he was trying to figure out what was wrong with him. Then he hummed.
"I was going to ask if I could go out for a little bit," Stiles said, "Is that alright with you?"
"It's not like I could exactly stop you," Dean said.
"I much rather get your permission," Stiles said, "Are you okay with that?"
"Sure," Dean said, shrugging, "Be safe and come home before dinner."
Stiles smiled and left the house.
Dean watched him take off before tracking his cell phone. He noticed Stiles was darting around but staying in Mystic Falls. Finally, he was stationed somewhere. Dean grabbed the car keys and followed him.
"I don't know who you are!"
"I know that," Stiles said, "I'm not concerned about that part. The thing is, I have this ache inside of me. Like an itch for... Killing. You know what I mean, right?"
