family reunion...last part (milly's pov)

When matt told me he had a surprise for me and we started the drive, I wasn't thinking anything of it and where we were headed, I trust him and that's it.

Last night was a beautiful and memorable night that I will never forget. Matt is everything to me, his gift was so meaningful and special and a moment beyond my wildest dreams to have experienced with him by my side and being the first birthday with him as my partner.

I had my head on his shoulder and I wasn't even looking around to see where we might be going, I was concentrated on being by his side and enjoying this moment of quiet when I felt matt getting quieter and his breathing was becoming not normal so I looked at him from the corner of my eye and that's when I saw he was turning the corner and I saw my apartment building from afar and was so confused for a second and felt him laughing and relaxing after seeing my reaction.

"What are you laughing about? and why are coming to my flat?", I asked with a very confused look, and he puts his free hand on top on mine which was resting on my leg.

"Part of my gift got send to your flat instead of my house, so we're coming to pick it up and then we're going where we are headed", he said smiling while looking at the road.

"How did you manage to put my address instead of yours?", I asked laughing too since I barely spend any time here and soon it won't be mine anymore when we finally move in together into our own place, "I still don't know what we are doing or what you have planned but this is not what I expected", I said.

"I hope you get surprised and love the gift", he grabbed my hand that was on my leg and brought it to his mouth to give me a kiss there, "ok, we're here. Hey, I love you", he said while grabbing my head slightly to look at me and smiles at me before kissing me.

"I love you more and thank you for all of this, you didn't have to", I said back before giving him a quick kiss.

"I wanted to, this is just the first of many birthdays that we're gonna spend together", he said while we both laughed, "I'm so cheesy but I couldn't care less", he finished saying before moving to open the car and he came over to my side and helped me to get out of the car and hugged me, "did I told you that you look amazing?", he asked.

"You did but I love to hear it, and you also look handsome", I said.

"Only for you babe", he said laughing and I laughed too.

"God, you're being so cheesy today, but I love it and you."

Once we finished making fun of us and laughing we went inside the building, saying hello to the concierge and moving to the elevator. We were hugging with my back to his chest, and he had his hands around my waist.

"Babe, did you bring your keys or not?", he said, and I got confused.

"Uhm no, I left them at your place because I wasn't planning coming here tonight, do you have yours?", I asked back. "Wait, the gift is inside the apartment? I'm so confused."

"Inside. I came here yesterday quickly on my way home to bring it inside since didn't wanna ruin the surprise if I brought the gift home and you'd have seen it", he says with a smile on his face and I roll my eyes at him, "and yes, I have my keys with me, was just asking."

We left the elevator and when we were in front of the door, he passed the keys to me, "come on, you open the door", he said smiling and I was so confused at all of this, what is he planning? my god.

I then open the door and turn the lights on and then out of nowhere I hear "surprise!!!!" and my mum and brothers were in front of me, and I looked at them and then at matt who had the biggest smile on his face and my mum was crying and I was about to start crying.
