"It's not like we're moving out together on our own Mel, and I'm staying in the guest bedroom." I state stuffing my teddy bear in my already packed suitcase.

"Right, the guest room" Mel giggles from my desk chair, making sure to put air quotes on the last part as she gives me her best "I know what's really going on here" look.

"I'm serious Mel. I'm staying in the guest bedroom-

"No, you aren't, I give it one night and you two will be sleeping in the same bed and using the same towel to wash your goods" Rav chimes in from the door.

Rav sits down next to Mel and of course, they start whispering under their breath and giggling.

"His mom is literally down the hall from our rooms guys, it's not happening" I say, huffing as I sit on my suitcase giving it just enough squish to finally zip closed.

When I texted my mother to inform her of my wanting to move in with Corbin and his mom temporarily, she of course was as distant as always giving me the "make sure to come back and water my flowers" not really interested in what I was asking.

So that night I called Corbin telling him what she said, he on the other hand was way more ecstatic about my moving in.

And since then he's been hassling me to pack my bag and come "home".

It's strange though. I'm excited to move in and be in a house that actually feels like home.

A house where I won't be alone in.

"Okay! Moving day?" Raven squeaks bringing me from my thoughts.

"Yes. MOVING DAY" I scream back louder with a smile.

Mel and Rav walk my 3 bags and favorite blanket out to the car.

I walk around my sage-colored room one last time to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.

Making my way to the bookshelf I stand on my desk chair and grab my favorite romance novel.

My foot slips a little as the chair begins to spin, I clumsily catch myself but not before A picture frame crashes to the floor.

Thankfully it doesn't break.

I slowly step down and pick up the frame.

It's my mom and I on my 6th birthday.

The first birthday that I got to choose my own theme and outfit for.

My favorite mustard yellow poofy dress and matching plastic heels. "The favorite" part is clear as it's paired with my best "toothless smile"

She looks happy here.

"Shit toothbrush I forgot my toothbrush" I grunt.

I send Corbin an encrypted text as I walk out the door.

"Still looking for a roommate?"

We haven't talked all afternoon. He went to the gym this morning and said he had a few errands to run after.

I sit in the front seat of Raven's car, immediately plugging my phone in and turning on the music.

I don't want to hear another thing about my sleeping in the guest room.

We pull into Corbin's Driveway, well I guess it's mine now too huh?

His mom opens her door almost as quickly as Raven turned the car off.

I open my door to greet her with a small hug.

"Thank you again" I smile pulling away.

"Don't thank me, I'm MORE than happy to have you here Katherine" she says with a sweet motherly smile.

I grab one of my bags from the backseat, the biggest one of course, as Raven and Mel got dibs on the light ones.

"I'm off to work but feel free to make yourself at home sweetie" she says pulling out her car keys.

She waves one last time before pulling out of the driveway.

I say my goodbyes to Raven and Mel. Quickly shooing them to leave so they don't give him the "I give it one night" speech.

I left my things in his room not knowing which room he'd want me to stay in.

Now sitting on the couch I turn on my murder mystery.

I get through one episode and already feel bored.

Just as I was walking back up to Corbin the front door closed.

I don't say anything, instead wanting to further the shock I slowly descend down the staircase.

I see him before he sees me. I stay quiet. Stealthy if you would.

He's wearing a fitted black t-shirt that shows off his tattoos perfectly, matched with black basketball shorts.

He sets down his bag at the door and finally looks up.

His eyes widen and a smile plants itself on his stern face.

"You never answered my question" I poke. Standing with my arms crossed in the doorway of the kitchen.

"Nope not anymore, the spot has just been taken" he smirks, taking his shoes off.

He strides towards me.

"So should I see my way out or can we make a deal here?" I joke back.

"Depends on the deal" he retorts.

He towers over me. His body is so close I can feel the heat radiating off of it. His eyes finally fall into mine. He leans his hand against the doorway right next to my shoulder.

My cheeks immediately flush. And my pulse beats through my ears.

He coughs bringing me back to the conversation, one eyebrow raises on his face as he awaits my reply.

His eyes quickly move from my eyes to my lips as I began talking

"Hmm, I don't know" I say resting my thumb and pointer finger on my chin to further imply my having been deep in thought.

"Okay here's my proposition then, you give me a kiss and I'll tell the other guy to find another couch to sleep on" he smirks bringing his eyes back to mine.

"I-"

He cuts me off

"Hold your horses, little lady, I'm not talking a peck on the cheek here. No, no, no, I'm talking an earth-shaking, Oscar winning, toe-curling lip lock." He speaks with a very serious tone and expression on his face. Though I can still see the slight raise of his lip.

Now I steal his move as my eyes fall onto his lips. His teeth take in his bottom lip slowly as he inhales, My eyes quickly return to his, studying him for a quick moment before I put on the show of my life.

"You drive a hard bargain, but I need a place to stay" I quip with a smirk.
