I made my way downstairs to the area with the double dumbbells, the things you do pull ups with, and the punching bags, I surveyed the room and found Paige in a corner, punching a really big punching bag. She was REALLY good at it, too; every punch she launched set the bag back a little more. As I approached her I noticed she was wearing a blue tank top and sweat pants, which helped accentuate how fit she really was.
"Hey," I said to her. "You OK?"
But she didn't hear me; she must have been hyper focused on punching the SHIT out of that bag! A left jab, a right, a left hook, a right uppercut, then going back putting her hands back up. She lightly skipped in place twice, then did a right jab, left jab, right hook, left hook, right jab, and a left uppercut. She made it look EASY! But with every punch, she'd make this angry grunt; I looked at ger face, and it looked contorted with anger.
But ya know what? I got a hankering for trying out the punching bags! I decided to use the bag next to Paige's, which was blue in color. I got in front of the bag, wound up my fist, and-
AAAAHHHHH (A whole slew of colorful expletives that younger readers need not be exposed to because swearing isn't nice) That hurts!!!
"Huh?" Paige said, looking to her left, finally seeing me. "Daisy? You OK?"
"Yeah," I whimpered, my arm still stretched, my fist still on the bag that didn't even budge a quarter of an inch.
"You sure?" She said, checking out my hand. "Uhhh, that's not how you throw a punch. You sure you didn't hurt yourself?"
"Maybe," I whimpered as I slowly opened up my fist. It hurt like hell. She slightly pressed my fingers as she held my hand.
"You're not even close to ready to use this type of bag," said Paige. "This is for martial artists, ya know? Boxers, Muay Thai experts, Kung Fu peeps, that type of folk."
"Guess I bit off more than I could chew," I chuckled, the pain alleviating somewhat.
"What're you doing here?" She asked as she led me to some benches.
"Oh, I told you, I need to make a change," I said. "You know, put my life in a better direction, expand my horizons..."
"Uh, I meant down here," she said, pointing to the room. "In this area, specifically."
"Well, you said you were having guy trouble," I explained. "And, uh...I wanted to make sure you were alright, ya know?"
"I am, don't worry," she said. "It's just a dumb ex who slid into my DM's and propositioned me. Not that big a deal."
I immediately smelled baloney; I remembered how she kept stone cold whenever the dudes in her chat would get all pervy on her during her stream. Getting propositioned by an ex, I don't think that would make her THIS angry. That's the impression I got, anyway. The way she was punching the heck out of that bag, with all that fury and anger? Nah, something else was eating her.
"Sorry to hear that," I said, deciding not to pry. "I know I'd be mad if any of my exes propositioned me outta the blue."
"Right?" She said. "Like, I'm not some sex toy, OK? I'm in a RELATIONSHIP now!"
"A happy one, right?" I blurted out. Wait, no, that's a stupid thing to say. "Sorry, uh... Asperger's Syndrome. Sometimes I say things before I think them through."
"Oh, I didn't know," she said, clearing her throat. "But yeah, we're happy. Just between us, the night before I left, we did the deed."
"Uhhh..." I was left speechless, but I blushed like crazy.
"Sorry, I think I overshared," she chuckled nervously.
"Was he good?" I blurted out. "Oops, sorry, I-"
"I mean, he tried?" She said, grimacing. "I don't WANT to say I've had better, but...he was enthusiastic, so... yay for him?"
HAHAHAHAHAHAH HE SUUUCKED!!! PROBABLY CAME IN LIKE HALF A MINUTE!
"Soooo, uh," Paige said, blushing a little. "Yeah, I...I should get going. I think I blew off enough steam. Thanks for coming to check up on me; is your hand better?"
"Huh?" I asked. "Yeah, thanks. Hey, don't worry about that dumb ass, OK? He's just letting his man meat do all the thinking for him."
"That's literally all of my ex boyfriends," Paige said, laughing. "Anyway, see ya!"
"See ya," I waved as she left. Rather hurriedly, I should add. I wonder...did I scare her off?
Shoot, I suck...
"Well," Sam said, as she headed downstairs. "She seemed a lot less upset than when she came in."
"Ex boyfriend trouble," I said. "I'd rather not get too into it; Girl Code, you know."
"I'll ask her myself when I get home," she said, shrugging.
"Huh?" I asked. "You live together?"
"Yea, we're roomies," Sam said, nodding. "I can tell you really like Paige..."
"I owe her a lot," I said. "She helped me out when some dude was caught jacking off to a video of me and my then girlfriend making out; I don't know how I woulda handled that without her."
"Ahhhh," Sam said, nodding. "She told me about that."
"Oh!" I blushed like crazy. Paige talked about me?
"So...what do you think of her?" Asked Sam.
"She's super cool," I answered.
"Yeah," said Sam as she sat next to me. "Ummm...listen..."
"Yeah?"
"...thanks for being a good friend to her," said Sam. "Lord knows she needs more of those."
"We all do," I said. "I'm thankful for the friends I have."
"Good," she said. "Ummm... So, uh...whatcha gonna do? Amy said she had to go soon, so..."
"I'll be back day after tomorrow," I said. "Thanks for helping me out today."
"It's cool," she said, playing with her hands a little. Did she like me? "So...see ya day after tomorrow?"
"Hopefully so," I said. Every fiber of my being was BEGGING me to ask her out. But...not this time, no. I can't rush. "Say, I know this is a lot, but...maybe you'd care to chat sometime? Maybe online, or over a coffee or something?"
"Yeah!" She said perking up. "Hey, let's arrange it by email or something; how about it?"
"Sure!" I said, then I gave her my email, and she gave me hers. By the time we were done, I practically skipped upstairs to where Amy was.
"Well, SOMEONE looks like they had a good time!" Amy said, grinning.
"I'll tell ya all about it in the car," I said. "Let's just say, the gym did me a world of good!"
"Hope we see ya again, soon!" Said the cashier as he waved at me. Nice guy!
Amy and me got into her car. She wasted no time in asking me to spill the details.
"Got her email," I said, grinning like an idiot. "We're totally gonna arrange something!"
"Yooooooo!!!" She said, giving me a high five. "Soon as you laid eyes on her, I KNEW you'd want to date her! And I know her; she's great!"
"Yeah!" I said. "Oh, and guess what?"
"What?"
"Paige and I were talking a while ago," I said, barely able to contain my laughter. "Turns out Paul Jones is BAD at sex!"
"OH MAN, I KNEW IT!" Amy and I started laughing our asses off!
