I know I wanted to break up with April; I should be ecstatic! And I legit thought I was over it, ya know? I thought I was relieved, but now there's this empty feeling inside my chest. It's like, my heart is a sad man, you get me? Here I am, walking downtown Amberville, completely directionless, with no idea what to even do with myself or anything!
My phone buzzed. I opened it; an email from Paige. I opened up the email...
Hey Daisy. I'm leaving town today; if you're not busy, can we meet up at this cafe Paul recommended?
I checked the address; it was the same place Amy took me last week when I asked for her advice on April. Ugh, irony. I headed down to the cafe, and surprise surprise, there was Paige. I smiled at her, waving. Then I saw Jerkfacewas with her too. That kinda put a dent on the mood, but it's whatever. Paige is here, and that's enough to brighten my day.
Except she's leaving today, DAMN!
"Hey!" Paige said to me. I smiled and waved at her; her smile disappeared. "You OK?"
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"You look like you've been crying," said Paige, grabbing my shoulders. "Something happen?"
"Nah," I lied, giving her a fake smile.
"Hmmm," Jerkface loudly hummed. "You know what we should get? Some nachos. And of course some orange soda to go with them."
"I like nachos," I said.
"Me too," said Paige. "Let's get some!"
So we entered the cafe, ordered three plates of nachos, and we each had a drink. Jerkface ordered an orange soda, I ordered a coke, and Paige had a ginseng and cola drink. That was fancy, damn...
"So I'm having a stream tonight," said Paige. "You guys are tuning in, right?"
"Yeah," Jerkface said. "Don't even gotta ask; I never miss your streams."
"What game are you streaming?" I asked.
"Minecraft," she said; I noticed she didn't seem too excited about it.
"You like Minecraft?" I asked.
"I mean," she said as she took a bite out of her nacho. "It's popular, and it gets views."
"That didn't really answer my question," I said, sipping on my coke. I noticed Jerkface cleared his throat rather loudly.
"Honestly?" She said, sighing. "Nah; I'd rather stream something like a fighting game, but...Minecraft, Fortnite, that's what gets views."
"You play fighting games?" I asked. "Which ones?"
"Oh, nothing extraordinary," she said, smiling a bit. "Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Smash..."
"Which one's your favorite?" I asked. I noticed that she perked right up when I asked her.
"I don't know if you've heard of it, but it's Guilty Gear," she said. "The graphics are AMAZING, the music ROCKS, and the characters are all super awesome and I love'em all!"
"I think I've heard of it," I said, chuckling. "But I'm not much for fighting games; I SUCK at'em. FPS games too."
"What you into?" She asked.
"RPG's mostly," I said. "My personal favorite is Persona."
"A JRPG," Paige said, smiling. "I prefer Western RPGs like Elder Scrolls."
"Skyrim, eh?" I asked.
"Skyrim's OK," Paige said, shrugging. "But to me, Morrowind has the better Vanilla game, while Oblivion is the better game with mods. Honestly, if not for the modding community, Skyrim woulda been forgotten about a scant four years after release; it's the mods that are keeping that game alive. I mean, I GET what the developers were trying to do, but it really feels like they didn't quite know how to do it."
