I run my hand over my face as I ponder what to do. I look back over to James who gives me an emotionless glare. He certainly doesn't want me to stay, but after Satoru just told me that, how could I leave?
"Satoru, I don't have any of my things here, and I have work tomorrow." I tell him.
"Surely it will inconvenience Miss L/n hugely if she stays any longer." James says and Satoru gives him a cold stare.
"I'll send someone to pick up your stuff. Please Y/n, I'll pay your salary for tomorrow if you take the day off." He tells me and I laugh at the lengths he's willing to go.
"Satoru, it's not about the money, it's my clients." I tell him and he looks at me disappointed. God, I hate it when he makes that face, I hate it when I disappoint him. "I guess... I do have my laptop in my bag? I could work from here maybe..." I say and Satoru nods in agreement.
"Yes." He says quickly as he pulls me closer to him as if I'm about to run away. "Give James a list of what you want him to pick up at your place." Satoru tells me and I shake my head.
"I don't want to make James have to do something like that, I'll just Uber there and back." I tell him but he refuses.
"No, I want you here with me, just give him a list." Satoru says and I look at James reluctantly with an 'are you sure' expression on my face. James nods in response and I write down all of the things I'll need for the next couple days. God knows how long it will take for Satoru to recover from this judging by how weird he's acting right now.
"Thank you." I tell James as I get up from Satoru's hold and pass the note to him. "I've put my number at the bottom in case you can't find anything along with my address, here are my keys." I say as I hand them to him.
"Thank you Miss L/n, I will be back as soon as possible." James replies as he looks over to Satoru nervously. As he does so, Satoru reaches up and wraps his arms around my waist, yanking me back down to the sofa next to him before pushing his face into the crook of my neck and covering the both of us with his blanket.
I let out an awkward laugh and give James a slightly concerned expression before he leaves to collect my things. I move my hand back into Satoru's hair, continuing to give him a massage like I was before. He pushes his face further into my shoulder and I laugh slightly as his hair tickles my face.
"Is your headache better?" I ask him.
"A bit." He replies.
"Tell me if it gets worse again." I say. We both manage to fall asleep on the couch and I'm woken up when I hear James call my name from the front door. I push the sleeping Satoru off of me gently, replacing my body with a cushion so he doesn't wake up. I drag myself to the lobby where I see James standing with a collection of bags.
I smile at him as he explains to me what's in each one. "Thank you, really, and I'm sorry about Satoru insisting on me being here." I tell him as we both pick up my bags and begin to carry them upstairs.
"It's fine. If it's what he wants then I'll make it happen." James replies before looking back at me. "He seems to really like you."
"I don't know about that." I laugh nervously. "We're just friends." I lie. Although, I guess, it's not a lie. Other than sleeping together, we're not dating, we're just friends at the end of the day. "He's acting oddly this evening." I assure him.
"Miss L/n, even I can see that this is more than a friendship." James says.
"I... I don't know." I tell him, unsure of what to say. What even is our situation at the moment? "I'm just repaying a favour of when he looked after me, when I was sick a few weeks back." I say.
