I'm currently sitting in a small restaurant, Satoru beside me and Shoko and Suguru opposite us. It's been a long day of snow related activities, so Shoko's made sure to book a nice restaurant so we can fulfil our appetites this evening. I should probably also mention that we all went to the bar beforehand, so we're pretty tipsy.
"That was so good." I say as I push my plate away from me slightly, leaning back in the booth as I do so. "Good choice Shoko." I tell her and she gives me a wide smile in response.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it." She responds.
"Did you see Satoru skiing earlier?" Suguru says as a mocking grin spreads across his face. I look over to Satoru and have to stifle a laugh as he rolls his eyes.
"I told you. I hate the snow." He says as he hits his fist on the table in protest.
"You looked so pissed off the whole time." Geto continues as he points his finger at Satoru and laughs. I laugh too, causing Satoru to shoot me an annoyed glare from beside me.
"You can laugh all you want, but I didn't fall once, whilst you on the other hand..." Satoru says and I look away in annoyance. He's right, despite his hatred for skiing, he's somehow good at it, just like everything he decides to turn his hand to.
"Yeah, it's not my fault you're a freak of nature." I mumble and he leans closer towards me.
"In many ways." He whispers in my ear, the alcohol obviously making him oblivious to our public surroundings. I place my hand on his face and push him backwards and Shoko lets out a laugh as she watches our interaction.
The evening continues with more drinking and food, but our enjoyment is curtailed when a small group of associates decide to join us. We have a polite chat and most of them eventually leave, that is, except for one.
I'm sure you can guess who it is. Sophia. She sits herself down opposite Satoru and me and next to Shoko, who gives me a wide eyed stare in response to the unwanted visitor.
"I saw you guys skiing earlier." She comments to everyone at the table. "Suguru you were so good..." She says in an exaggerated manner and I roll my eyes. I'm not mad though, she can go for Geto all she wants, I'm just glad she's decided to give up on Satoru for now. Wait... am I being protective over Satoru? Oh god...
"Thanks." Suguru says in response and I feel Satoru tense beside me suddenly. I look over to him and he gives me a confused smile before looking down. I follow his gaze and look inconspicuously under the table, only to see Sophia's leg stretching across to brush against Satoru's. I look away to hide my laugh and Satoru hits my back to get me to be quiet.
I shift further to the left of the booth and Satoru moves closer to me, meaning he's finally out of Sophia's reach. I see her expression change to a slightly disgruntled one as she attempts to form a meaningless conversation with a drunk Shoko (a challenge I'm very familiar with). I look over to Geto who's giving me and Satoru a blank look.
My attention is drawn away once I feel Satoru's hand snake itself onto my thigh, the contact causing me to let out a small gasp due to his cold hands. I hear him laugh from beside me as he begins to stroke his hand up and down my leg before resting it there for the remainder of the evening.
I watch as Shoko lets out a loud yawn from in front of us, signalling that she's tired. Startling me, I feel Satoru lean down to my shoulder before speaking.
"Do you want to leave?" He whispers in my ear as his warm breath fans my skin.
"Yeah..." I respond before looking back across to Suguru who's resting his face on his hand and engaged in a pointless conversation with Sophia about god knows what. As I touch his elbow from across the table to get his attention, he looks towards me instantly.
