I smile as I see James before me.

"Hi, I heard Satoru was sick, so I brought some desserts." I say as I hold up the bags I'm carrying either side of me. James gives me a small smile, but doesn't make any effort to welcome me into the house. I see him eye the bags either side of me, and his mouth twitches. "Is everything okay?" I ask concerned.

James blinks slowly before taking a step towards me so he's now lingering halfway in the doorway. "Miss L/n. I won't stop you from entering the household. Despite being employed by the Gojo family, I deem you to be a resident of this house too." He says abnormally calmly and I feel my heart pound. "However, I also value you to be someone whom I care about. That is why I'm advising you not to enter the house, even though I won't stop you." He says before stepping back.

Why's he speaking in riddles that I can barely understand like some odd gatekeeper?

I look down at the ground below me. What does he even mean when he says not to come in? Is something wrong with Satoru? I grip the handles of the paper bags in my hands tighter as I clench my jaw in frustration. Why can't anything ever just be simple? I look up to James who gives me an unwavering blank stare. He's not helping me make a decision either.

"I'd like to come in please." I say simply and James nods before stepping aside, allowing me to enter. I take a tentative step, my nails digging into my palms as I grip the bag handles even tighter. I'm sure at this point I'm drawing blood, but I'm too fixated on what the hell is going on to even care. My eyes scan the reception area as I do a 360 degree spin, only to find nothing.

I turn back to James and shrug my shoulders. He continues with his blank stare at the floor, but motions with a single hand towards the door to the living room on my right. My eyes flash over to it. It's shut. I look back at James and his gaze meets mine as I alternate between him and the door. I walk over and throw it open, doing so quickly as if I'm pulling off a plaster.

My eyes meet a dark room, so I struggle to make out what's inside. I squint to allow my eyes to adjust, but before they even get the chance I hear a voice.

"Fuck!" I hear coming from the middle of the room and I look over to see Satoru on the couch, and underneath him, a woman. He's kissing her harshly as she writhes beneath him, and he's got his shirt undone down the middle. I freeze, dropping the bags of redundant desserts either side of me as I do so. I bite my lip in an attempt to stop myself from shouting at him, and the noise of the bags hitting the floor causes him to turn around and look over his shoulder.

He first glances briefly, then turns back round to the woman underneath him. I don't think that he didn't care about my presence, I think that he just didn't believe I was there for a second. He turns back around quickly after realising what he must have seen, and his eyes meet mine. I watch as they widen and he pulls himself off the woman who's lying on the couch. I look over to her and I see she's not someone I know - thank god.

I suddenly feel someone grab my arm and shake it and I look to see who it could be. I see Satoru at my side, clinging onto me pointlessly. I look down to his lips as they move rapidly, but I can't really make out what he's saying. It all just sounds like muffled underwater shouts, no words can be distinguished from one another. It's like that time the client punched me when I lost my hearing for a few minutes later. It's probably because I'm in shock or something.

I turn my gaze away from him and tear my arm from his grip as I move to walk back to the reception area, my head pounding. I can hear my heartbeat as if it's pulsating out of my chest. It's so loud... everything's just too loud. I finally breach through the door and press my hand to my forehead as I do so, pacing into the centre of the room in an attempt to gain some peace.
