I stood in front of the bungalow awestruck, when I asked for name and address of the team leader of the opponent school, I never expected that they were bloody rich. Victoria Jones…I knew I heard that name before…. Daughter of Carter Jones, one of the top businessman of Australia….”FUCK JULES AT LEAST GIVE ME SOME WARNINGS YOU BITCH!!” so basically it’s Public school vs Private school, now that I remember…I think I heard a gossip regarding it, “Anne you bastard! Pay attention to your surroundings!”….no wonder they were so confident while threating her….these brats are spoilt by their money printing parents. Fuck…anxiety is kicking in! How am I supposed to talk with sophisticated fools who have pride as high as the sky? “AHHHHHH….JULESSSSS WHY DIDN’T YOU TELLL MEEEEEEEE, I WILL KILLLLL YOUUUUUU” I felt excited and embarrassed at the same time while staring at the large iron gate.

‘Uhm….I think I kept on goggling at the bungalow for too long’ the guards glared at me in suspicion and one of them approached me with an electric teaser in his hand. I kept a straight face though my legs were shivering, “WHERE ARE YOU MY CONFIDENCE WHEN I NEED YOU THE MOST?!”

Guard: Please don’t stand here …it’s a private property (he says in a warning tone)

Me : (I looked at him feeling annoyed) Are your memories that bad? Don’t you even recognise your mistress’s friends? (I said while raising my brow).

“Presentable lie” my father’s words kept on ringing in my ears since that year’s incident, the human brain tends to believe a sweet lie over bitter truth, and when repeated continuously over a period of time, that lie coats into the mask of truth becoming the reality. I have been perfecting the talent of lying for years now, and have gained almost a mastery in it. Look straight into a person’s eyes and speak with confidence, people will even doubt their own knowledge. “Confidence is a weapon, sharpen it, and use it according to your needs, you can’t kill anyone with your confidence but you can always pull the trigger-“

Guard: (he hesitated hearing my words then looked at the other guard) But…..if you are her friend…what are you doing here right before school hours?

Me: (I started coughing loudly pretending to be sick) I…I have been sick since last one week…and came here to collect class materials from Victoria… (I said in a weak voice)

Guard: We need to confirm first…so please wait here. (He said softening up a bit)

Me: (I staggered almost falling to the ground weakly) Please….let me…meet her….(I coughed loudly)

“What’s all these commotion about?” A blonde white girl around my age with clear light blue eyes behind her stylish spectacle stood in front of the now open iron gates, she was wearing private school uniform and was around my height, her nails were polished, her black shoes shinning brightly, a red ribbon tied behind her straight hair, she had a hint of German accent in her English, a bodyguard followed her as a black Lamborghini stopped in front of the gate, the bodyguard opened the door of the Lamborghini waiting for her to get in. Pushing the Spectacle bridge back using her left hand index finger she scanned me head to toe before looking at the Guard.

Guard: U-Uhm Milady….this girl here…claimed to be your friend. (He said hesitating)

Victoria: (she stared at me for a second before turning towards the bodyguard) Thank you for your hard work, please take a break while I meet my ‘friend’ (I gulped my spit hesitating) I am sorry that I forgot our appointment today. (She said addressing me) Please come in, and make yourself comfortable. (She said while asking me to follow her)

I followed her inside the bungalow quietly as I could feel eyes staring at me from behind and sides, the servants stood there watching my movements while Victoria advanced towards seating room. She walked quietly like a cat, making sure she doesn’t disturbs even the ghost living in the bungalow. She gave out an aura of confidence and discipline, which may have been achieved through strict training. She looked like a child trying hard to fit in adult shoes. Mature humble lady or just a mask to hide the arrogance? Soon we were sitting in the sitting room, which was filled with costly antics, the sofa was as soft as the cloud making me melt, two maids walked in the room serving us Camomile tea with macaroons. “Being rich is fucking amazing!....No…No focus Anne Elizabeth!” Victoria picked up the cup filled with Camomile tea and took a small sip before gazing at my face again.

Victoria: Tell me….what was the emergency that forced you to utter such a blasphemous lie. (She slightly raised her right brow while addressing me)

Me: Well… (I gave her a serious expression knowing that there is no point in lying in front of her) Miss Victoria, as a Captain, hope you have an idea regarding your team’s behaviour.

Victoria: (putting the cup on saucer abruptly, she crocked her eyebrows in disbelief) Miss…I don’t even know your identity, still I had the basic courtesy of serving you tea because you visited as a guest. Yet you are sitting here and judging my role as a football captain? (She said with a hint of sarcasm)

Me: It’s my mistake, I am Anne Elizabeth….I came here on behalf of Jules. Your teammates are threatening her- (I was cut short)

Victoria: Miss Elizabeth…I don’t know what you are playing, I can try to understand your concerns…but it’s in between two teams….if Miss Yamamoto was being threatened or any of her team members are being threatened, she should have stood up for her own problems instead of sending an unknown lady to my doorsteps, so if you want to teach anyone about being a captain, please start with Miss Yamamoto. (She said standing up) Our meeting time ends here…I don’t know with what motive you came here, but for your knowledge, I would rather trust my team instead of strangers. (She said before holding the end of her skirt with her hands and bowing slightly) Please leave before I call the guards, I am getting late for school. (She turned to leave the room)

I bite my lower lip knowing whatever she said was right, it was my fault coming all the way here without thinking twice, Why did I act so desperate?….just because I went through something similar….’What is wrong with you?’ I tried to follow Victoria, only to get kicked out by the guards. I decided not to further involve into someone else’s mud, but life had some other plans….

To be continued....
