Season 7 Chapter 22

Me: Do you really need to leave….just before my finals? (I said looking down and sulking like a kid.)

King: (He smiles softly before patting my head.) I am sorry….Anne. (He says with eyes filled with guilt.)

I shoved my hands in my pockets and stared at my shoes. Trying to hide my face. Sometimes I wish I could cry, at least in such moments. It hurts….it hurts a lot. My heart sank at the thought of him leaving. Even though I knew that he was just returning to Japan, but who knows, when we will meet again?

Yesterday, after dropping Julie back to her home. I was returning to the restaurant when my phone started ringing in my pocket. It was King's call, for a flicker of second my hope rises as I picked up the call. But before I could say anything, his words left my face pale.

Me: Who disappears for weeks, only to call and say that he is leaving? (I said biting my lower lip, as we stood outside the airport.)

King: (he takes a deep breath) I am sorry…..

Me: (I hit his chest) I don’t want your apology you moron! (I shouted.)

Leo: (he holds me back) Anne….

King: (he sighs feeling guilty.) I know that I messed up badly….everything was my fault.

Me: (I looked away) Are you leaving, because of me? I….I am sorry….I don’t know why I said those things to you that day….so please….don’t leave…..(my eyes sparkled with sadness yet there were no tears.)

King: Anne…those words were like hammer on the nail but it hit the right spot. So don’t feel guilty over showing me the mirror. (He squeezes my hands softly) I promise that someday, you would feel proud of me.

Leo: What are you planning? (He raised his brow) I can’t believe that you choose to dropout, right before your examination. What were you even thinking? Hope you won’t regret your reckless decision.

King: Well, not everyone is good with books. (He says with a hint of jealousy and admiration.)

Leo: (frowns) What are you even talking about? (He folds his arms and clicks his tongue.)

King: I finally realized Leo, I can never be like you, ‘the perfect son'. I envied you, only to realize how stupid I was. So I have decided to do what I am better at, I guess. (He shrugs.) Risking my life.

Me: So….you will be a gangster? (I blinked feeling stupefied.)

King: Closer enough, I would be police. (He smirked moving his fingers through his hair.) And when I sacrifice my life, my father will be finally proud.

Leo: (he sighs feeling disappointed) You still sound reckless and immature. Hope your journey puts some wisdom in your mind.

King: Are you calling me stupid??? (He pouts)

Leo: No….just doubting on the genetics. (He rubs his forehead feeling frustrated.)

King: What did you say?! Anne look! Leo is mocking me! (He pouts.)

Me: Bruh….(I was too stunt to reply.)

Adelina: (she comes running towards us, as she was out of breath and still in her nursing outfit) I…I am sorry….nightshift….(she pants.)

Leo: (he wraps his arm around her, gently pulling her towards him. As he let her lean against his body.) You should have taken rest.

Adelina: But…..(she pants trying to find words.)

Leo: Its fine. Ignore that idiot. He isn’t more important than your health. (He pats Adelina before picking her up in his arms.)

Adelina: (she blushes hard) Leo….I am fine! (She felt shy.)

Leo: Your feet are swollen. (He says holding her carefully in his arms.) You should massage your feet and place it in warm water to relax. (He smiles at her.)

Adelina: A-Alright….(she blushes.)

Leo: Wish I was allowed inside your hostel. Then I would have helped you out. (He sighs.)

Adelina: Leo! (She pouts scolding him.) Behave.

King: If you are trying to make me feel jealous, congratulations, you are successful. (He says pouting.)

Leo: All the best with your life. (He says with a faint smile.) Hope you won’t fuck up again.

Adelina: (she frowns) Leo! Place me down and speak properly with your brother! (She says in a commanding tone.)

Leo: But…..(he hesitates.) That ass isn’t more important than you. (He sulks and whimpers.)

Adelina: Leo. (She frowns.)

Leo: Fine….(he pouts before walking towards a nearby bench and placing her down gently, then got on his knees. And opened her shoes along with socks, before gently massaging her swollen feet.) Does it hurts? (He asks worried.)

Adelina: (she feels shy and shook her head.) I-I am fine.

King: (he covers my eyes) Anne, you shouldn’t witness adult stuff!

Me: You even kissed your girlfriends in front of me. And I have watched even worst things when I was a kid. (I said remembering our parents, as I felt nauseous.)

Leo: (he glances at King) You will understand, when you fall in love. And that day, I will laugh.

King: Yeah yeah….whatever. (He clicks his tongue. And rolled his eyes.)

Me: (I removed his hand from my eyes.) King….time is running out. So tell me, are you sure about your decision?

King: (takes a deep breathe.) Never been surer. (He pats my head.) Don’t worry, I will repent my sins by protecting people. I will make sure that you feel proud of me someday. I will work hard and change myself. This would be my redemption arc!!

Me: (I couldn’t help but laugh a bit) Can’t you be serious for a second?

King: Nah, life is too fucked up to be serious like Leo. (He sticks out his tongue mockingly.)

Me: (I sighed disappointed) Sure.

King: Kiddo, take care of yourself, and don’t let anyone break your heart. (He pats my head.) Next time we meet, I will be an officer. You gotta show respect. (He winks.)

Me: Yeah yeah….as long as you are happy with your decision. (I smiled.)

King: Never been more satisfied. I have always wanted this, just didn’t have enough courage. (He rubbed the back of his head embarrassed.)

Me: Well…..I am glad. I look forward to your success. (I said patting his back.)

King: (he blushes slightly feeling shy.) Thank you.

Leo: (Adelina nudges him, urging him to say something. He sulks before clearing his throat and finally looking at King.) All the best.

King: (he raises his brow feeling disappointed) That’s it?

Leo: (he was taken aback then made a comical face giving King side eyes.) What else do you want to hear??? All the best with your STDs?

King: Bruh!!! (His jaw drops) Take that back you asshole! I don’t have STDs, its true that I had sex few times, but with full protection! And don’t pretend to be a saint! I know your closed door secrets!

Leo: (goes red) Stop making up lies! We are too busy to be something in life, rather than you!

King: (he smirks) I need to believe that you didn’t do it yet?

Leo: I aren’t a horny monster like you. I am still waiting till she is ready for it. (He rolls his eyes.)

Me: Seriously guys….(I said face palming feeling uncomfortable) I am leaving for school, Adelina, do you need a cab?

Adelina: (she wears her socks and shoes) Would be great. (She says standing up.)

Leo: Babe….(he says whimpering)
Adelina: You meet me later. (She says in a murderous tone.) You are in big trouble.

Leo: Nuuuuuu. (He says almost crying) I am sorryyyyyy.

We took a cab, leaving those two morons behind. As Adelina first dropped me to my school, before heading towards her nursing school.
