Prologue Part 1

I was woken up by the familiar harsh ringing of a bell. I sit up in my small cell, my hands touching the freezing stone floor. I quickly raked my fingers through my wavy, dark ginger hair as I made out the other Hybrids in the other cells sitting up and trying to neaten themselves up. Five HYDRA agents strode into the room.

"Hybrids!" one of them barked.

Nobody spoke, not even Aliana, who was known for speaking up.

"Today you will train for your missions! You will be successful!" the same agent shouted.

After a moments hesitation, I went over to the bars of my cell and asked, "Successful at what?"

The agent turned to me, and I felt myself flinch under his gaze.

"Your mission."

"Which is...?"

The agent's lips pursed, and he signaled with his hand. Two agents approached my cell. I backed into the wall, still sat down, as I knew what was about to happen. They pulled the door across, and came into the cell. I held out my arm as a muscly agent clamped a tight cuff around my wrist attached to a chain. He pulled me to my feet as the other agent pushed me out of the cell. The agent who had spoken first grabbed me by my hair and barked loudly, "Your mission is to kill the Avengers! Y/n here will lead you!"

You flinched as his voice deafened you.

"Get ready for training later!" he ordered, before using the chain to pull me away.

The agent led me down dimly lit corridors, stopping briefly to talk with another HYDRA worker. As I awkwardly stood, I could see into a room that had its door ajar. I saw objects floating around the room surrounded by red wisps, along with the occasional streak of blue light. I couldn't make out the figures stood in the room - it was too dark. I squinted, trying to figure out who they were, but I was dragged away down another maze of gloomy corridors until I was pushed roughly into another room. A little bit of light seeped in through the tiny barred window, and I blinked a few times. My night-vision activated itself and my visibility was increased. The agent slammed the door shut and un-cuffed me.

"Un-sheathe your claws," the agent ordered.

I sighed and un-sheathed my sharp claws.

"Good. We're bringing in two enhanced individuals to fight you today," the agent began.

"Sorry- what?" I stuttered. "T-two? And en-enhanced?"

"We'll see whether you're really strong enough to kill the Avengers... or you're just a defect," the agent says menacingly.

The word 'defect' makes me tense my hands, sheathing and unsheathing my claws. I wanted to tear him apart. Him and all of HYDRA. Tempting thoughts rushed through my head as I glared at him through the darkness, my blue eyes glowing dangerously, but before I could act on any thoughts, the door was opened, and two figures were pushed through the door. One was a girl in a black dress, with dark brown hair. The other was a slightly taller boy, with strong muscles and messy blond-brown hair.

"Y/n, these are the enhanced you will fight," the agent said as the door slammed shut.

I stared at them, worry filling me. The boy whispered something to the girl in Sokovian. I understood this immediately, as I'd been taught Sokovian by my parents, along with English, Russian and Italian.

"I will protect you, no half wolf is going to hurt my twin," the boy murmured.

I stumbled back in shock. I couldn't hurt them. Not with them being twins.

"Transform..." the agent whispered to me. "Or I'll trigger you..."

HYDRA used trigger words to bring out our worst, just like they did with the Super Soldier program. They were completely random words - HYDRA had brainwashed us into reacting to those words. I didn't move. The agent leaned closer, whispering, "Forest..."

I felt tense. I knew that if all 7 words were whispered to me, I'd be fully in their control.

"Poppyseed..."

I cried out in pain, dropping to the floor and giving up. I transformed within a few seconds.

"Woah..." I heard the boy murmur.

I got to my paws, looking down at my wolf form. The black fur was sleek against my skin, and my claws glinted. The agent snapped a collar around my neck. Not even the abundance of fur stopped me from shivering.

"Twins!" the HYDRA agent straightened up.

"Why are you making us fight this creature?" the girl asked in a shaky but hard voice.

"Because... I want to know if Hybrids or enhanced are stronger," the agent replied. "I want you to fight until either the Hybrid knocks you out, or you knock the Hybrid out."

"Cruel," I growled, and the agent glared down at me.

"You'll fight, or your little killer friends will pay," he hissed.

I felt terror run through me, so I stood back a few paw steps, before dropping my body down until my belly fur brushed against the cold stone floor.

"3..."

I narrowed my eyes and watched the twins as the boy stood protectively in front of his sister.

"2..."

I flexed my claws.

"1..."

"Fight!"
