Y/n

"Sorry what?" I asked, blinking quickly from confusion.

I stood in the jet in front of Tony, dumbfounded.

"Would you like to join the Avengers?" Tony repeated his question.

I opened my mouth to reply but I didn't speak, closing my mouth again. I had no idea how to react. This wasn't what I'd expected to happen. I'd expected to fight HYDRA, kick their ass so hard they never came back, make sure all the remaining Hybrids were alive and well and live the life I wanted to live. Sure, it would mean I could see Peter a lot more, but could I leave what I'd known?

"I'm..." I looked around at the Hybrids.

The injured ones were getting their wounds treated, the others resting.

"Going to have to think about it," I finished my sentence.

Tony nodded, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Never did I ever think we'd have a Hybrid working with us, Avenger or not," he said with a smile.

I laughed.

"It only took me nearly killing you and almost getting killed myself," I joked.

"Come on, I'll help clean those," Tony said, indicating to the wounds and cuts.

I sat down as Tony began to clean them. I winced slightly when he dabbed a wet gauze over the wound on my shoulder. Peter stayed near me the whole time. Neither of us spoke, only looking around at everyone. Natasha was stirring. Bruce was by her side the moment she started to panic, calming her down. Kat, Aliana and Jordan were talking with Steve and Bucky. I closed my eyes. I hated the scene, but at the same time it was something I enjoyed. The smell of blood, the sight of so many wounds, body bags and first aid. I hated that. But everyone together - Hybrid, human, super-soldier, enhanced, god - was a sight I thought I'd never see. It was such a far-fetched dream I'd even struggled to imagine it. Here, even if just on this Quinjet, Hybrids could freely be themselves around people who had once discriminated against them.

"All done," Tony said, dragging me out of my thoughts.

I looked at my cuts that were now properly covered with plasters and bandages. I thanked him and took Peter's hand, taking him away from everyone.

"Are you alright?" he asked, concern lingering in his eyes.

"I need help Pete," I admitted, sitting down on the bench that was against the side of the jet.

"With deciding whether to be an Avenger?" the boy guessed, sitting beside me.

I nodded slowly.

"Could I be and Avenger and lead the Hybrids?"

Peter gripped my hand a little bit tighter.

"I can't make that decision for you Y/n," he told me honestly.

Sighing, I said, "It's possible, but I don't want to neglect the Hybrids if something happens and Fury needs me."

Peter listened to me as I continued to explain to him what could or could not happen.

Peter

Eventually, Y/n stopped to take a breath. I squeezed her hand. Tell her to do it! You can be with her so much! I ignored these overwhelming thoughts. Although true, I was being selfish. I had to think about her and the Hybrids. Y/n was supposed to lead a pack and somehow protect them all. I could tell she was getting incredibly anxious as she unsheathed and sheathed her claws. I felt them slide against the skin on my palm as I adjusted my grip so she didn't stab my hand.

"Mr Stark and Mr Fury could always help you sort out a way to do both," I suggested.

Y/n nodded.

"I'm going to do it," she told me decisively, her anxiety fading slightly. "When do we land?"

I shrugged. We were probably still in Siberia considering how large Russia is.

"I'll go ask," I said, standing up and leaving Y/n sat on the bench alone.

I went over to the cockpit where Rhodey was flying.

"Hey," I greeted.

He looked at me and smiled.

"Hey kid," he replied. "What's wrong?"

"Oh, Y/n just wanted to know how long was left of the flight."

"A couple of hours, tell her to get some sleep," Rhodey replied.

I nodded and went back to Y/n. Her blue eyes looked at me as I returned.

"A couple of hours he said," I informed her.

She sighed as I sat down beside her. The Hybrid leaned on my chest and I put my arm around her. I started talking quietly to her, not about anything important. I talked until I noticed she'd fallen asleep.

Smiling, I leaned my head against the side of the jet until I myself slipped into a welcoming sleep.
