Peter

I locked the door after Y/n had left. I couldn't figure her out. She was so... cold... emotionless... almost like she was a robot. I went over to the desk she was previously sat at, and looked through the papers. There were newspapers, maps and articles. Underneath all of the paper was a large sheet, with the words "HYDRA" in big letters in the middle of it. Around it were scribbles. Locations, statistics, names. It was as if y/n was trying to solve a murder case. Nothing made sense to me. I tried to decipher something she'd scribbled down, but her handwriting made it barely legible.

"What the hell y/n?" I murmured to myself, finding a bunch of letters to and from someone called Kat. "Who...? What...?"

I eventually got overwhelmed by it all and roamed around - bored. I went to look in the kitchen for something to eat. There was nothing in the fridge or cupboards apart from a lone can of tomato soup and a few slices of bread, along with a tub of butter in the fridge. I wandered towards the other door. I assumed it was her bedroom. Out of pure boredom, I went in. It was messy, with clothes everywhere. She had a small shelf with a few books stacked clumsily on it. Three coats, a bag and a dress hung from the coat rack, whilst a pair of trainers and a backpack were thrown below.

"Spidey-boy!" I heard my name being called - barely.

I rolled my eyes and went into the living room, forgetting to close y/n's bedroom door.

"Peter!" she hissed through the door impatiently.

I unlocked the front door and let her in.

"Finally," y/n sighed. "I thought I was going to be stood gassing around all night."

I glared at her.

"I was in the bathroom," I lied.

"Mhm?" she questioned. "Really?"

"Yes."

"Looks like you went into the wrong room then."

"I-uh, what?"

Y/n went over to her bedroom. I mentally facepalmed. Shit, I'd forgotten to close the door. She stood glaring at me, still holding two bags in her hand.

"I leave you alone for less than half an hour and you go and snoop around!" she started yelling. "What an idiot am I?"

I opened my mouth to yell back at her, but I saw anxiety in her eyes, and she looked exhausted, so I only whispered, "I wasn't snooping..."

"You're not a mouse, talk like a fucking human!" y/n shouted. "It's your fault that I'm even stuck with you in the first place! If you hadn't saved that HYDRA agent, you wouldn't be here!"

Something inside of me snapped.

"Well when the press tells the world that Hybrids are bloodthirsty and evil, it's hard not to believe them!" I shout back. "There's been news reports of your kind killing people! Everybody wants you dead, and I did you a favour not killing you in the first place!"

"You did me a favour?" y/n scoffed. "Spare me your arrogance!"

"When I see a Hybrid attacking someone, I don't know that they're a HYDRA agent! I'm supposed to stop people getting killed!" I almost screamed.

Y/n stormed into the kitchen and slammed the bags on the counter.

"I could kill you right here and now if I wanted to Parker!" she screamed. "You're probably going to get us both killed anyways, so y'know!"

"No, I don't know!" I shouted. "I don't want to be here! I'd rather be at home right now with my family!"

"Which family? The Avengers or your parents?"

I stopped and simply glared at her, fury burning at me from the inside. Ohhh she went there. I went over to her, and she stepped forward, until we were inches apart. I could feel her ice cold blue stare drilling through me. I wanted to push her. I wanted to hurt her. I hated her so damn much! I managed to stop myself, but when she pushed past me, I grabbed her by her arm to pull her back. She shook her arm but I kept hold of it.

"I could tell the Avengers where you are right now!"

"And you'd risk letting HYDRA getting away with what they're doing?"

"They'd figure it out, with all that stuff on your desk!"

Y/n stood still for a moment. The colour drained from her face.

"What?" I asked, my anger cooling off.

As soon as I loosened my grip, she ran over to the desk.

"What did you read?" she asked weakly.

"I couldn't make sense of any of it."

Y/n nodded slowly.

"I don't want you to know how bad they are... I don't want them hurting people..."

"I-"

"Look, Peter, I'm sorry."

What? She apologised to me? I did not expect that.
