I felt distressed at how many dead there were. We brought them back to the jet and laid them on beds - making sure they were in dignified positions. There were 7 dead Hybrids. The rest of us boarded the jet as it set off to go back to the facility. Once I'd checked on Natasha, Clint, Wanda and the injured Hybrids, I sat down in the cargo hold of the jet. I had a few cuts, nothing bad since Wanda had healed my bad wound earlier in the battle. I had my head in my hands, taking deep breaths to calm myself. I'd not been in my wolf form for as long as that since I was in HYDRA, and I forgot how draining it was. I felt a tap on the side of my arm. Lifting my head, I saw Steve had sat down beside me.

"Oh, hey," I murmured.

"You should see Bruce," Steve suggested. "You're incredibly pale."

"I'll be alright, I just need some," I stopped for a second, standing up and going over to where I'd dumped my bag in the corner of the Quinjet. "Sugar."

I pulled out an energy bar and went and sat back down. Steve continued to sit beside me, watching my subtlest of moves intently.

"You fought well out there," he told me suddenly.

"Did I?" I asked. "I let many die. More than I expected."

"Y/n, you knew people were going to die."

"Yes, I did. But I didn't expect 7 of us dead," I replied. "There's barely any of us in the world. We've been hunted down for centuries. Why do you think we live in the outskirts of society, keeping to ourselves as much as possible?"

Steve put his arm around me. I winced slightly as his hand brushed against a cut I had on my shoulder, but he didn't seem to notice, thankfully.

"Will the other three be okay?" I asked.

Steve nodded.

"Clint and Wanda will be fine," he said, and with a sigh finished, "I dunno about Nat."

"Wanda healed me out there," I said. "Maybe when she's well enough she could heal Nat?"

I felt a weird sense of loyalty towards the red-head assassin, despite everything. I felt a loyalty towards everyone on this plane. A loyalty to Maria Hill and Nick Fury.

I looked around for Peter suddenly. Tony was stood next to him, cleaning up the small wounds he got from the battle.

Only then did I realise Steve never replied to my question.

"Steve?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"What are we going to do with the bodies of all those soldiers and that super-Hybrid?"

Steve shrugged.

"Fury will probably send a team to clean it up."

I grimaced.

"Hope none of them are squeamish of blood."

Steve laughed for a short second.

"Even Fury cares about his agents," he told me.

We sat in silence again for a short while whilst I ate my energy bar. I kept my eyes on Peter, making sure from afar nothing was wrong.

"You really love him don't you?"

"I..." I wasn't able to comprehend the meaning of love, let alone understand the feeling in myself. "I guess."

I'd grown to enjoy Peter's company, even crave it. Maybe if we hadn't met those couple of months ago, things would have been different. We still could've met, but our time together would've been a lot less and neither of us would've had the time to bond as we did.

"I guess the only thing HYDRA did for me was help me meet Pete," I replied as the boy began to walk over to me.

I stood up and he carefully hugged me, not saying anything, avoiding the spots where I had cuts on my body. He held me as if I was fragile. I wasn't used to it, so I pushed out of the hug and asked, "What's wrong?"

Peter's face showed no relief, happiness or joy. Just desperation, love and guilt.

"Will you leave us?" he asked quietly.

"What?"

"Will you and the other Hybrids leave... like forever?"

"No!" I whisper-shouted, putting a hand on his cheek. "After we've been through so much, you think I'd just leave you?"

Peter shrugged.

"I don't know Y/n," he admitted. "You're unpredictable. One minute you're ready to kill anyone who gets in your way, the next you want nothing to do with anybody. You're passionate, almost too much."

"Why do you think you fell in love with me?" I asked with a smirk.

He sighed, but a smile curled his lips.

"I'm not leaving you Peter," I said. "But I need to lead the pack."

I searched his brown eyes.

"Y/n..." he clasped my hand. "What do you mean?"

Come with me Peter. You can lead the pack with me. Learn our culture.

"Come with me Peter. You can learn our culture, maybe even help us to survive in a world as cruel as this."

"Y/n..." he mumbled.

Peter

I was taken aback by her offer. I couldn't leave Aunt May, MJ, Ned, the Avengers, everything I already knew. But I couldn't pull Y/n away from the life she so desperately wanted. The Hybrids she was destined to lead.

"I-" I stuttered. "I can't leave everyone..."

Y/n looked down.

"I didn't mean forever Pete..." she looked back up at me with a smile. "I mean... Sometimes you can come to us. We're probably going to be living differently to than we traditionally do."

I blinked, confused.

"Times change Peter," she explained, her blue eyes looking up into mine. "In order to live in a world with changing expectations, technology and people, we need to modernise our ways."

"How would you do that?" I questioned.

"For a start, we'd live like normal humans do. Have jobs, houses, families, friends. The traditions would become more of a culture, a religion if you wish," Y/n continued.

Opening my mouth to speak, I was cut off by a call from Tony.

"Hey, Y/n!"

Y/n looked over at Tony questioningly.

"Come over here a minute," he told her.

Y/n walked over without a word. I went over too, but stood a little way away from the two.

"I saw how you fought out there earlier," Tony started.

"Don't," Y/n put a hand up. "I don't want any pity or whatever you think you owe me."

"I wasn't going to give you pity," Tony replied.

"Thankyou," Y/n thanked with a grateful nod of her head.

"Fury and Hill have asked me to ask you - and I'm in agreement of course."

Tony stopped for a second.

"Yes?" Y/n asked, slight impatience in her voice.

"Would you like to join the Avengers?"
