Y/n
Tony led me into a conference room. I stopped at the doorway. There were a few people sat in it. A black man with an eye-patch over one eye was stood at the end of the table, looking over a few papers. Everyone turned to me as I appeared. Shrinking back, I felt anxious. I hadn't been in the same room as this many people in a long time.
"Y/n, you can come in," Tony said.
I stayed stood in the doorway, uncertainly unsheathing and sheathing my claws every few seconds.
"This must be the Hybrid you captured," the man with the eye-patch assumed.
My eyes flashed as I heard the word 'captured'. Is this going to be like HYDRA? Are they taking me back there? The man came over to me and I backed away.
"She's a little shy," Tony put in.
The man stepped away a little bit and held his hands up.
"I'm not going to hurt you. None of us are. We're here to help," he said.
"Wh-who are you?" I asked, keeping my claws unsheathed.
"Director Nick Fury, Director Fury to you," the man introduced. "Now can you put those away please?"
He indicated to my claws. I sheathed them.
"Mr Stark, you said Agent Romanoff went on the offensive?" Fury asked, going back over to the table.
Tony nodded.
"I'll deal with her in a minute. Hill, could you fetch her please?" Fury asked.
A woman with short black hair nodded and stood up. I moved out of the way of the doorway so she could get by. She nodded to me politely, before leaving.
"That's Agent Maria Hill, my adviser," Fury introduced.
Then, pointing to different people around the table, he introduced them as Steve Rogers, James Rhodes, Bruce Banner and Vision. I was confused at how there was a robot who acted like a human.
"He's a synthezoid. Part robot, part human," Tony explained.
"That's a very watered down version of it, but yes," Bruce added.
"Anyway, can we get on with the meeting?" Fury asked.
Everyone fell silent and I stayed stood in the doorway.
"HYDRA have come into possession of a pink glowing rock of some sort. They are suspected to be using it to create a super Hybrid, along with serum that they injected into the trapped Hybrids such as Y/n. Y/n's research has led us to believe that HYDRA intend to create this super Hybrid to eliminate any threat," Fury explained.
"Over-simplified, the rock is almost like an infinity stone," I put in.
Fury nodded and looked past me suddenly. I turned around. The same woman that had tried to shoot me earlier was stood behind me, along with Agent Hill.
"Agent Romanoff, wait just next to Y/n for a minute please," Fury ordered without tone in his voice.
The two agents entered the room, Hill sitting back down and Romanoff standing a few feet away from me. She didn't look at me - not once - until Fury said, "Y/n would be very valuable on our team."
"She tried to kill Tony," Agent Romanoff said with a furious glance at me.
"Agent Romanoff," Fury snapped. "You put a gun to the girl's head and pulled the trigger. If it wasn't for it being empty, you would've been in much more trouble."
Agent Romanoff looked down, her red hair falling in front of her face. I listened to what Fury had to say, interjecting a few extra pieces of information now and then. When he had finished briefing everyone around the table, he took Agent Romanoff out of the room.
Natasha
I followed Nick out of the conference room. In silence, he led me into another one, closing the door behind us. I knew I'd messed up. I didn't ever intend on killing Y/n, just scaring her. I wanted her to know we weren't a joke.
"Agent Romanoff, I'd like to understand your thought process back in the cell with Y/n, Peter and Tony," Fury said, starting the conversation.
Without hesitation I told him.
"I knew the gun wasn't loaded. I got rid of all the bullets before I put it back in my thigh holster. I saw Y/n's eyes change over the security cameras and went down there. I tried to calmly take her arm to see how she'd react," I began, the events playing over in my mind.
"Then what happened?" Fury asked, clearly interested as he leant against the back of a chair.
"She made an attempt to attack, so I instinctively kicked her away, then she transformed into her wolf form and attacked me. Tony pushed me out of the way and Y/n had her claws at his throat. I told through the earpiece I needed help, then..." I trailed off, biting my lower lip.
"And then?"
"I held the gun at Y/n's head."
Nick looked at me with frustration.
"How did she react?" he asked, trying to understand the situation. "Because you wouldn't hold a gun at someone's head unless you were certain they were going to do something."
"She stopped moving but didn't let Tony go. When I gave her her last chance, she just told me that she didn't care, but I could tell she did," I replied.
"Yet you didn't move your gun?"
I shrugged.
"I knew it wasn't loaded."
"Agent Romanoff, you need to understand the seriousness of the situation. What if it was loaded?"
"Look, Fury, I just wanted to scare her. I never in a million years intended on killing her."
"I don't think you understand!" Fury's voice became louder and harsher.
I stood still, not dropping eye contact.
"If Y/n dies, we have no way of stopping HYDRA! She clearly has the same goal as us here, and much more of a reason to take down HYDRA than anyone else here!"
"She held Peter hostage!" I replied.
I immediately regretted talking back to Nick.
"You're lucky I'm not suspending you Agent Romanoff!" he shouted as I looked down, filled with embarrassment.
The thing is, he wasn't wrong.
"Get out of my sight Romanoff!" Fury snapped.
I promptly left, knowing I had no chance of reasoning with Nick now. God Natasha, what an idiot you are!
