Peter
I helped Y/n grab what she needed. She kept looking over at me, blushing uncontrollably. I went over to her and put my hands on her cheeks.
"Stop blushing, Natasha'll notice," I whispered, but I think I made it made her blush more.
Yep, it did. Wow Peter, great job. That worked. Y/n did try to hide it however, grabbing a hoodie and saying loudly enough, "It's too warm to wear a hoodie."
I nodded, then we left her apartment, heading back to the compound. Natasha began to talk to Y/n a little bit, and Y/n was at first the same as she was with me. She replied to Natasha's questions curtly, not giving away more than she needed to. I could tell Nat was getting frustrated, but she tried to hide it and be patient. Eventually I took Y/n's hand in mine and said gently, "We're all on the same team here."
Y/n sighed quietly and I turned my head to her. She seemed to be gazing off into the distance, deep in thought. When the car got back to the compound, I had to nudge her out of her trance. She blinked with confusion for a moment before getting out of the car, her backpack in her hand and her hoodie over her arm. I took her inside and to her room, before helping her unpack. She's so cute when she's busy. I just want to kiss her so bad... I smiled to myself as I watched Y/n put some things on her bedside table, her back to me. Suddenly, her phone rang. It was near me, so I picked it up and gave it to me. I didn't fail to notice the caller. 'Kat'. Who's Kat? Y/n picked up the phone and put it to her ear, going outside the room.
Y/n
Peter handed me my phone and I took it gratefully. I saw Kat calling me. I didn't know whether to be hopeful or dreading. I put the phone to my ear and left the room, walking a little bit down the corridor before leaning against the wall.
"Hey Kat, you alright?" I asked.
"It's Ben," Kat replied.
"Wh-what?" I stuttered.
"You know how most Hybrids are dead?" she asked.
"I- Yeah?" I replied. "Wait, is Ben okay? Is he-"
"He's fine, he's fine, don't worry."
"Oh thank god."
"But... we found his parents..."
"Who are they?"
"His mother belonged to our pack. It was Jane, and his dad was Harvey..."
"Fuck," I swore. "I don't even know if they're alive."
"Harvey died not long ago, that's how I found out. I'm not sure if Jane's alive though. She was only a few years older than you."
I nodded slowly.
"Do you want me to try find out?" I offered.
"Are you able to?" Kat asked.
"I mean, I have access to Stark's technology, so it shouldn't be hard."
"Hang on, what?"
"Turns out the Avengers want the same thing we do. Well, they want to take down HYDRA."
"So you're working with them."
"Yeah..."
"What about the prophecy? I thought it meant Hybrids only?" Kat demanded.
"I don't know Kat. I honestly don't know."
I heard her sigh.
"We've all been waiting for years. Good luck I guess," Kat said, before ending the call.
"Wait Kat- Alright then."
I turned off my phone. Someone we didn't expect to be alive could be alive. I bit my lip nervously. If I was going to carry out this prophecy and it was true, how many Hybrids would have to be sacrificed to do it? How many would be put in danger? Because of HYDRA's greed? I felt dizzy, thinking about it all. I shrugged off the dizziness and went back into my room where Peter was waiting.
"Y/n, are you okay? You're pale," Peter asked, full of concern.
I stood in the middle of the room, Peter's right hand on my cheek.
"Yeah, I'm alright," I replied.
I jumped as I heard a mechanical voice.
"Miss Maximoff has said that lunch will be ready in 10 minutes."
"Wh-"
Peter cut me off, putting his finger over my lip and saying, "That's F.R.I.D.A.Y, Mr Stark's AI."
I nodded, then replied, "You can go downstairs if you want, I'm just going to finish unpacking."
Peter nodded and left my room, closing the door gently behind him.
Later that day after lunch, I asked Steve for directions to Tony's lab. When I got there, I saw Bruce was there in his lab coat, testing on something.
"Hey Y/n, how are you settling in?" he asked.
I shrugged.
"Okay I guess," I replied, going over to a computer.
"Do you know how to use that stuff?" Bruce asked.
"I'll figure it out," I replied, honestly not knowing.
However, Bruce came over to me and showed me how to use it. I thanked him, and he replied, saying, "If you need help, just ask someone. You don't have to figure everything out by yourself."
I nodded, then got to work trying to find out whether Jane was alive. I quickly found a few files about her. My heart stopped as I saw her status.
'Status: Deceased'
But then I saw something else pop up. The status was recorded last month, but there had been activity in her bank account last week. I checked what she'd bought. A pair of shoes - way too small for her. The size was the size that a 6 year old would... Ben! She knows Ben is alive! I grabbed my phone and called Kat. I saw Bruce look up at me as I suddenly began pacing.
"Y/n?"
"She's alive, she bought a pair of shoes for Ben last week," I said hurriedly.
"Wait... she... she knows he's alive?" Kat asked weakly.
"Must do, she doesn't have another child, or is related to another child that age."
"Oh my god... Can you find a contact number or something?"
"Yeah, hang on a second," I replied, putting my phone on speaker next to the computer as I searched.
My fingers sped over the keys as I searched. Found it! I picked up the phone and took a picture of the phone number, then sent it to Kat.
"I've sent you it."
"Thanks Y/n..." Kat replied.
"No problem," I said, hanging up.
I felt my heart lift a little bit. I might not have stopped HYDRA yet, but I did just do something right.
