Y/n

Farewell cruel world. I heard the gun click behind my head, then it was pulled away. I stepped away from Tony, confused. Looking up at the red-head assassin, I saw her put her gun away.

"I don't make threats lightly. You're lucky it wasn't loaded," she said, before walking away, Steve behind her.

"Y/n!" Peter ran over to me and I transformed back into a human.

He hugged me so hard he nearly pushed me over.

"Don't ever do that again, hear me?" Peter warned in my ear in a relieved whisper.

I smiled with affection.

"I can't promise that," I said, looking up at Peter.

At that moment, neither of us cared what the others thought. We gazed into each other's eyes. I assumed mine had stopped glowing.

"I'll never let you die," Peter promised. "I promise."

I kissed him on his lips and he put his hand behind my head as we kissed for a long time.

3rd person POV

As Peter and Y/n kissed, Bruce and Tony turned their heads, murmuring, "Gross."

Wanda stood next to Clint, a smile on her face. Clint was watching the two odd lovebirds.

"I don't suppose Laura would let you nearly get killed," Wanda said.

Clint chuckled.

"I do that every day," he replied. "Y'know, I never expected Peter to get with a girl like her."

Wanda stared wonderingly at Y/n as she and Peter pulled away.

"I wonder what Peter sees in her..." Clint murmured, half to himself.

Wanda took a moment to reply.

"He sees her for what she really is. A determined 16 year old with the need to avenge what was lost all those years ago..." Wanda trailed off.

Clint looked at Wanda with curiosity.

"What do you mean?" he asked, but before Wanda could reply, Tony had gone over to Y/n and Peter and began to speak.

"Alright lovebirds, break it up!" he said briskly. "Peter, back to your room. Y/n, are you going to try kill me again?"

Y/n blinked.

"If you try hurt me, yes," she replied honestly.

For god's sake Y/n. Just say no. Peter thought.

"Do you think we're HYDRA or something?" Tony scoffed, before adding, "Of course we won't!"

Y/n nodded slowly. Peter, gently squeezed Y/n's hand before leaving. Tony gestured for Y/n to follow him. She did so, with Bruce just behind. Just Clint and Wanda remained in the room.

"She saved me and Pietro from HYDRA. At least I think it was her... she looked the same and has the same name as the Hybrid who helped us escape," Wanda informed Clint.

Clint nodded slowly.

"So you think Y/n really is a good person?" Clint asked as him and Wanda left the room and began to walk towards the lounge.

"If Y/n went through what I think she went through at HYDRA, yes," Wanda replied.

Wanda

Clint and I walked towards the lounge at a steady pace. God knows where Natasha had gone, but I knew a few people probably didn't want to talk to her. Clint kept asking me questions, but I didn't mind answering them. It was nice that at least one other person cared about what was actually going on with Y/n.

"What happened that day you escaped?" Clint asked.

I thought back to those years ago.

"Me and Pietro woke up and were told that we had practice with another enhanced. We thought it would be an enhanced as in someone like us. When we walked into the room, I can remember being surprised to see a 12 year old Y/n. Skinny, bruised... hardly someone who could be any challenge. The agent supervising us said something to Y/n... like... words... they seemed to trigger something inside of her and she transformed," I explained.

"HYDRA used trigger words on Bucky. Maybe they used the same for Y/n?" Clint suggested.

I thought about this for a moment, before continuing, "Y/n turned on the agent instead of fighting us. We fought of a load of agents together, before breaking us out. She said something about a super soldier serum but for Hybrids. We escaped, then not long after, saw about five others escaping through the same window. Kids between the ages of maybe 10 and 20."

We reached the lounge and sat down. Clint was clearly processing this.

"God knows what they all were put through before that," he eventually said with a sigh.

I nodded. Sadness tugged at my stomach. Hybrids had been cruelly discriminated and outcasted from society, labelled as mindless murderers, hunted, tortured, captured... Y/n's outburst wasn't out of rage. It was out of fear. She was scared. She began to care for Peter, and losing him was something that she couldn't bear. No wonder she was so certain Natasha was going to kill her, and so calm about it. I felt bad for not going back to find Y/n when me and Pietro escaped. A voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

"Why did you point it at her?" I heard Clint ask.

Looking up, I saw Natasha sat down on a chair, looking defeated.

"I knew it wasn't loaded. I wanted to scare her," Natasha admitted.

"Don't you think she's been through enough, even in the past couple of weeks?" I snapped.

Natasha looked at me with surprise.

"Peter was forced to keep tabs on her and report back, like she's a test subject. Then, just as she got comfortable around someone, she was tranquilised and brought to an unfamiliar place around unfamiliar people," I ranted.

"Wanda I-" Natasha began, but I cut her off.

"Nobody knows the slightest thing about her, but we're assuming she meant harm to Peter!" I felt emotion pour into my words.

Clint put his hand on mine.

"It's okay Wanda," he said. "She understands."

Natasha looked down and I cooled off.

"Sorry," I murmured.

Natasha looked back up at me.

"Don't be. I shouldn't have assumed anything. Clint could've killed me all those years ago. He didn't, he gave me a chance. I could've killed Y/n just then without giving her a chance. I nearly did."

She stood up and left, clearly regretting what she did.

"This will get easier," Clint said. "Eventually."
