I was awoken by being shaken by my shoulder. Sylvia was stood in front of me.

"We're at the compound," she said in her thick Italian accent. "You fall asleep on your boyfriend?"

I smirked a little as I realised Peter was asleep beside me. I could feel his chest rising and falling rhythmically.

"Maybe," I chuckled, shaking him awake.

"Cute," the older Hybrid commented.

"Huh?" Peter questioned sleepily, rubbing his eyes and sitting up properly.

"We're back lover boy," Sylvia told him.

He looked at Sylvia, unsure of how to react. Sylvia's eyes however were glinting with playfulness.

"She's joking," I told Pete.

"Right, sorry," Peter apologised awkwardly.

I stood up and me and Sylvia walked side by side out of the jet.

"He's so awkward, correct?" she asked.

I scoffed with a laugh.

"Very."

The moon had risen by the time we were back and stars clustered the dark blue sky, fighting for their own space to glow brightly.

"Your English is coming along well," I remarked.

Sylvia smiled.

"Grazie," she replied. (thankyou) "Sorry, I don't know that word."

"It's thankyou," I replied.

"Thankyou," Sylvia repeated. "Thankyou."

I nodded with a smile.

"I'm so glad this whole thing is over," I changed the subject with a sigh as we continued to walk towards the compound slowly.

"You left a Hybrid and came back an Avenger."

"Did I though?"

"Yes, you did do."

"I'm still a Hybrid. The same person."

"You have different job now Y/n. You can change the world. You don't need to work at a corner shop anymore. You're still Hybrid, still the same Y/n, but wiser and stronger. More powerful."

I stopped walking. We were meters from the front door. Turning to face my friend, I stated, "All of us together saved the world. From HYDRA."

"Now they're gone for good," Sylvia replied without accepting or denying what I'd said.

Smart, Sylvia never liked to openly say what she felt. I learned over time to know her opinions in the non-judgemental way she spoke. However, this time I couldn't tell at all.

"No more living in a crappy apartment," Sylvia commented with a smile.

"I dunno, I kinda liked that place," I replied with a lopsided grin.

"Heroes don't live in apartments. They live in big rooms, with big spaces," she told me, drawing out the word 'big' for effect.

Just as I was about to speak, I heard a voice calling me from the door.

"Y/n!"

It was Agent Hill.

"Arrivederci!" Sylvia said as I left her. (goodbye)

I waved back and went over to the dark-haired agent.

"Fury wants to see you," Maria informed me with a proud smile on her face.

"Now?" I asked with a groan. "I'm way too tired for a mission debriefing or whatever's happening."

"He doesn't want a debriefing," Maria replied as she led me inside. "He wants to see you about something else."

I nodded as I followed her down the corridors. We ended up in a conference room.

"Well it sure does look like you want a mission debriefing," I remarked, earning a stern glare from Agent Hill.

Fury himself just laughed as he sat down. He indicated for me to sit down. I sat down a few seats away from him. Maria left the room, presumably going to sort out something with the other Avengers.

"I presume Tony passed on my offer?" Fury began.

I nodded.

"Have you thought about it?" he asked, his eye watching my subtlest of movements.

"I have," I replied. "I'll join."

Fury clapped his hands together.

"Great news!"

"But," I continued lowering my head slightly but keeping my eyes on Nick.

Fury let out a small sigh but nodded for me to talk.

"I don't want to have to neglect the Hybrids if you need me for a mission. I also have to lead them," I explained. "My father left that duty to me."

"Negotiating can be done, of course."

"Thankyou sir," I thanked him gratefully.

We sat in silence for a few seconds until I asked, "Is there anything else?"

Fury shook his head.

"I just wanted to catch up with you about the offer," he said. "Go back to the others. No doubt you want to say goodbye to your friends."

I knew he was referring to the dead.

"Yeah," I replied with a small smile.

Standing up, I said goodbye and left.

I hope everyone's alright with the current outcome, and enjoying the story!

All Italian translations should be correct, even though I only used a couple, because I'm learning Italian on Duolingo. What languages are other people learning on Duo?
