Careful What You Wish For
🚨

Lindsey's shift was almost over or at least she thought it was. Athena and her had gotten another call and from the sound of it, she was gonna be working late tonight.

A man had thrown a bunch of money out a window and then proceeded to jump out the window and land on a car.

"Barry Johnson. 57. Seems to have had some kind of existential crisis after lunch." Athena said to Hen who had just pulled up with station 118. "Threw all his money off the roof and then decided to jump after it. Falls 20 stories and lives." Lindsey told them.

"20 stories? How is that even possible?" Buck asked and Lindsey just shrugged.

"We also got a few greedy bystanders with minor injuries. Not sure how you wanna handle those."

"That's up to the Cap." Hen told Athena.

Chimney made his way towards them. "Uh, interim Cap. This is just temporary until Bobby comes back." Buck said, still not over the fact that Bobby was suspended.

After Buck had finished treating the injured bystanders, he made his way over to Lindsey. "He's been driving me crazy!" Lindsey followed his eyes to Chimney. "It won't be like this forever, okay? Besides he's doing his best. And he's got some big shoes to fill, so just go easy on him, okay?"

"Yeah, we'll see." Was all Buck said and Lindsey rolled her eyes at his attitude.

Lindsey didn't have to work till noon. She had taken the morning off so that she could go with her mom to her doctors appointment, which had gone really well. She still has one more round of chemo so they haven't gotten the results about whether or not the cancer is fully gone, but the doctor is very hopeful.

Lindsey was on her way to the police department when she got a call from Athena saying that there had been an explosion and they were needed at the scene.

When she arrived, Athena and the 118 were already there. Lindsey watched as Eddie and Buck held back a man while Hen and Chimney worked on a woman who was laying on the front porch.

"What happened?" Lindsey asked Athena. "Mail bomb. Someone left a package at their door. The wife picked it up and the bomb exploded. She's in rough shape but still in one piece. Bomb squad should be here any minute to check the rest of the house."

"A mail bomb?" Lindsey asked, making sure she heard Athena correctly. "Yep, from the pieces that were left it was definitely addressed to her, in gold foil. Whoever did this likes to be fancy."

This had sounded really familiar. Mail bombs weren't necessarily rare but there was just something about this one. Her mind went back to all the cases she had worked before.

Suddenly it hit her, but there was no way that it could be the same person. But yet again, there was the gold foil. As she watched the people work around her, Lindsey decided to put it off as a coincidence.

Buck had been the one to text Lindsey about Eddie's wife. When she walked into the hospital waiting room she was met with the eyes of 118. "Is she..." Chimney shook his head and Lindsey felt her heart drop.

"Oh my god." Lindsey muttered. Christopher and Eddie had just gotten her back. Now they had to lose her all over again.

She sat between Hen and Buck as they waited for Eddie. The door opened and they watched as he walked out the door, Shannon's things in his hand. They all immediately stood up but Eddie's eyes didn't meet any of theirs. Instead his eyes were trained on something else.

Bobby, who had showed up once he heard, walked over and gave Eddie a hug. Lindsey felt her eyes start to water was she watched Eddie cry in Bobby's arms. It wasn't fair, to him or Christopher. She felt a hand grab hers and when she looked she saw Buck watching Eddie, tears in his eyes.

Lindsey laid on her couch, scrolling through channels when something caught her eye. She stopped on the news and turned up the volume.

She watched as they reported that another mail bomb had been left and a man was injured.

Lindsey could feel it in her gut, something wasn't right. This couldn't be just a coincidence. Pulling out her phone, she immediately found the contact and pressed the call button. She waited as it rang and rang. "Hello?"

"Hey Hotch...we've got a problem."
