"Ms. Scott, you are no longer with the BAU but you were apart of this case?"
Lindsey looked up from her clasped hands that were resting on the table in front of her. "Yes sir."
"And why is that?" Senator Cramer asked. Leaning closer to the mic she answered, "Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner called me in. He figured I'd be able to provide help with the case."
"Because you could provide help? Or because this case was personal?"
A bit taken back by the Senators accusation, Lindsey straightened up as she said, "This case required a lot of detail and Agent Hotchner knew he was gonna need backup. I spent 6 years with the BAU, I am more than qualified to handle a case like this." The Senators eyes met hers, "We aren't doubting your skills Ms. Scott but we are saying that this case was too big for your team."
"My team has faced many challenges. We all knew what we were getting ourselves into and we were all committed to the case." She said, her eyes never leaving his.
"But it should have been a joint task force."
"There wasn't any time. Once the subject was confirmed, we had to act quickly. Agent Jareau and Agent Morgan, caught the subject and we put an international criminal with terrorist connections in federal custody." Lindsey explained.
"But you used government funds for a personal vendetta. Never called homeland security. And now 6 people, including two of your agents, are dead."
"Were you apart of Agent Morgan's search for Ian Doyle?" The Senator asked. Lindsey shook her head, "No I wasn't. I wasn't even aware that he was looking for him." Looking down at his paper for a moment, he looked back up at Lindsey, "But he did involve Penelope Garcia. You and Ms. Garcia are close? She never once mentioned it?"
"No. When we talk, we don't normally talk about cases. And when it came to talking about Emily, we tended to avoid the topic of her death."
Senator Cramer nodded, "Ok, so when exactly were you called in to help Ms. Scott?" Putting her weight into her arms, she leaned forward a bit more and said, "Once Agent Morgan and Penelope Garcia found Ian Doyle, they called Agent Hotchner who then called me. Right after I got the news, I was on the next flight to Virginia."
The Senators eyes found Lindsey's again, "So you weren't there when they arrested Ian Doyle?" She shook her head, "No I was not. By the time I got there, they had already questioned Doyle and his child, Declan, was no where to be found."
