Mixed Feelings 🚨
"What's the square root of 162?" Christopher asked as he looked at the adults around him. Buck walked over to the table, bowl of popcorn in his hand, "Well, it's not a perfect square. So that would be 12.727...I think."
Christopher pulled out his calculator and did the math, "That's right."
Lindsey felt her jaw drop as she looked over at Buck, "There's no way." Buck just sent her a wink, a smirk on his face. Christopher turned to Eddie, "This is awesome dad! Buck knows everything."
Buck handed Eddie a beer, "Not everything. I think it's just math stuff. Today on the way to work, I was able to calculate exactly how many gallons of gas I needed to get myself to the firehouse." Eddie's gaze was stuck on his phone but his question was directed at Buck, "Why not just fill it up?"
"Because figuring it out was more fun. Turns out, I love math."
"Well, according to this," Eddie's eyes still on his phone, "People can get new cognitive abilities after a serious injury to the central nervous system." Buck nodded, "Ooh, which I definitely had."
"But some doctors are saying it's not a real thing."
Lindsey raised a brow, "You think he's secretly known the square root of 162 this whole time?" Buck wore an offended look, but ultimately ended up agreeing, "Yeah, come on. It has to be the lighting."
Eddie nodded, "Fair point. This guy literally got the power of electricity after being struck. Said lights would turn on and off every time he walked into a room."
Lindsey watched as Buck held out his hands as if he was trying to use the force. Lindsey shook her head at him. He then tried to snap his fingers, his eyes drifting up to the lights. Nothing happened.
"Cool!" Chris said.
"Yeah. Didn't last. Only lasted a few weeks." Eddie told them. Buck leaned on to the table, "I wish I got something like that. You know, ESP or...maybe the ability to see into the future or read peoples minds." Buck smiled big at Chris who smiled back.
Eddie hummed, "Those sound like horrible powers to have." Lindsey shook her head, "No way! Having superpowers would be awesome. If I had powers, i'd wanna be like the Scarlett Witch."
"Maybe this is just the first phase. Maybe you'll get more powers the stronger you get." Chris suggested and Buck immediately agreed, "Yes, like an actual superhero." Eddie turned to Buck, "You did get struck by lightning."
