Rage

"Weren't you and Bobby supposed to be gone for the weekend?" Lindsey asked Athena as they sat in the police car. Bobby and Athena were supposed to be on their honeymoon since they never officially got one. "Yeah, but we can't go right now due to the lawsuit."

Lindsey turned to Athena with wide eyes, "Lawsuit?" Athena looked at her for a moment. She could see the confusion in her eyes. "You don't know, do you?"

"Know what?"

Athena sighed, not sure how to tell her. "Buck is suing the city." Lindsey's eyebrows furrowed. There was no way Buck was suing the city. He never mentioned that. "What?"

"He went back to that lawyer. He's suing the city, department, and Bobby."

Lindsey's head fell to her hands with a groan, "I told him we were gonna figure this out together. He just had to be patient." She rubbed her temples in annoyance. "I am so sorry Athena."

Athena placed her hand on Lindsey's shoulder, "Don't be. You didn't do anything. Bucks the one who made this choice." Lindsey turned to her, "And it was a bad choice but Athena you have to understand. He's hurting. Besides Maddie, he doesn't have any other family. The 118 is his family and now he's being told he can't be with them. All he is trying to do is get back to his family. If you were told you couldn't be with your family, you would do anything to get back to them, right?"

Athena soaked in Lindsey's words and nodded.

"This isn't the right way to do it. I know that and I will talk to him but I just want everyone to see Bucks side of it. He just wants to be with his family." Lindsey finished. She didn't want Buck to ruin his relationships over a minor set back.

"I know Lindsey and I'm not mad at him. I know he's hurting. Hopefully this will all blow over in a couple days." Lindsey turned to look out the window, "Yeah I hope you're right."

"You're suing the city?!" Lindsey exclaimed right as Buck opened the door. "Well hello to you too." She ignored him and pushed past him, into his apartment. Taking a deep breath she turned back around to face him, "What happened to us figuring it out together, huh?"

"I'm sorry Linds but I couldn't wait any longer," He said to her. He could tell she was upset with him. He didn't want her to be upset. "Besides, it doesn't matter. They aren't gonna give me my job back, they just wanna give me money."

Lindsey's anger subsided when she saw the sad look on Bucks face. She reached out to grab his hand, "I could have told you that. If you would have just been patient like I said, you wouldn't be in this mess." Buck sighed, linking his fingers with hers, "I know and I really am sorry. I feel awful, about everything."

She gave him a sad smile, "I don't think I'm the one you should be apologizing too."

Buck had offered to go grocery shopping with Lindsey. She wasn't sure why but she wasn't gonna turn down the man's help. "Hey Buck, which one should I..." She turned to see that Buck was no longer next to her. "Buck?"

She walked up and down the aisles until she found him talking with Chimney and Hen. So that's why he wanted to join her. "Hey guys. Doing some shopping as well? Buck was just helping me stock up for the week." She said as she made her way towards them.

"You have a cat?" Hen asked her. Confused, Lindsey turned to Buck and saw what he was holding, cat food. She rolled her eyes and turned back to the group, "No, I don't."

"Listen, since you guys are here, I wanted to apologize. Okay, I never meant for things to get so out of hand with the lawsuit and-" Buck was cut off by Eddie who Lindsey hadn't even realized was standing there. "Yeah? What'd you think was gonna happen? The lawsuits bad enough but you told your lawyer everything about us. Personal things."

"Buck..." She turned to him. He never told her that part. Buck looked between Eddie and Lindsey, "You're supposed to be truthful with your lawyer. Why are you so pissed at me?"

Eddie took a step forward, getting right in Bucks face. "Because you're exhausting. We all have our own problems, but you don't see us whining about it. No, somehow we just manage to suck it up. Why can't you?"

"That's kinda harsh. It's not like the guy asked to be crushed by a ladder truck." Chimney said and Lindsey was thankful that he said something. "Yeah Eddie, Buck really didn't mean to hurt you guys." She told him but he ignored her. "No, but he did file a stupid lawsuit, and now I can't even talk to you because of it. You know how much Christopher misses you? How could you? You're not around."

Bucks eyes widen, "I didn't realize that. Maybe I can come and visit Christopher. You know the lawsuit doesn't prevent that."

"No it prevents me from reaching out to you. I couldn't even call you to bail me out of jail!" All eyes fell on Eddie. "If that was something that happened." He tried to cover up, but no one seemed to fall for it. "What? What are you talking about? Look, man, why can't you see my side of this?"

Eddie stepped even closer, "Cause that's all you see."

Yelling could be heard from outside, along with the sound of cars hitting each other. Everyone made their way outside. They watched as one car tried to drive off but the other hit it sending the car to hit a fire hydrant. Water began to spray everywhere.

"Technically, I'm off duty." Lindsey clarified. The 118 all turned to Lindsey. "What it's true." They watched as one man got out of his car and started yelling at the other man who was still stuck in his car.

Lindsey groaned, "Ugh, fine. Let's go." Her and the 118 made their way over to the scene, leaving Buck to just stand there and watch.
