Confessions
🚨

"Attention all units, possible elder abduction in progress. Suspect is female. Celeste Davis, driving a gray SUV, license plate: John-two-zero-five-six-William." Maddie's voice drifted through their cruiser. "Suspect vehicle just ran a red light at 6th and Flower. Headed south on 6th."

While Athena drove, Lindsey grabbed the walkie. "Show 727-Adam-30 moving to intercept." Athena threw on the lights and sirens and then took a sharp U-turn.

When they got on 6th street, their eyes searched for the vehicle. "We got eyes on the SUV," Lindsey told Maddie as Athena followed behind the vehicle. "Suspect is turning right on Spring. Vehicle entering the parking lot at 6394 Spring."

They found the car parked with the door wide open. The two women hopped out of the cruiser and walked towards the SUV. "Suspect has abandoned their vehicle. They are on foot."

"Copy, Officer Buckley. I have your location."

They ran into the building and towards the elevators. Looking at the screen, they could tell the woman was heading up to the roof. Lindsey sighed as she grabbed her walkie again, "Dispatch, suspect has entered the Yorkers building on 4th. Requesting RA and backup unit. Suspect is on the roof."

They got in the elevator and made their way up to the top. Pulling out their guns, they slowly rounded the corner.

"Celeste Davis," Athena called out as they held their guns out towards the woman. "Let her-" Athena stopped when they realized the woman was holding an urn instead of the mother-in-law. Lindsey and Athena shared a confused look before turning back to Celeste.

"Celeste? Where's Doris?" Athena asked calmly as they slowly moved towards the woman. "Where's your mother-in-law?"

Celeste held out the urn, "Right here." Her tone was a mixture of anger and exhaustion.

Lindsey raised a brow as she asked, "That's your hostage?"

"Just the opposite. I'm her hostage. Even in death."

When they realized there was no immediate danger, they sighed and lowered their guns.

Celeste started to pace by the edge of the building as she said, "My husband thinks i'm crazy! Clearly. I'm on a roof with the dusty remains of my horrible mother-in-law and the LAPD."

Athena and Lindsey moved closer, holding their hands out, hoping that the woman would step away from the ledge. Instead, Celeste leaned over to look down at the ground. "Is that Trent?" She laughed, "I knew he couldn't stay away. Even a cremation fire can't burn through those apron strings!"
