The gunshot reverberated through the air, snapping Taehyung out of his drug-induced stupor. With a leisurely yawn, he gradually maneuvered himself into an upright position, gingerly working to regain control of his body. Stretching his neck and hanging his legs over the edge of his bed, he anticipated the arrival of the men stationed outside his door, knowing they would soon come to escort him to his father for questioning.

As the guards entered, they respectfully bowed and informed him of his father's request for his presence. Taehyung nonchalantly dismissed them and proceeded to take a much-needed shower. He took his time grooming himself, meticulously moisturizing his face and fixing his hair, seemingly unfazed by the events unfolding around him.

Having experienced love firsthand, Taehyung understood all too well the depths of foolishness it could lead people to. He knew the power of love could drive even the sanest person to commit irrational acts. People should never underestimate what a love-sick boy could do for his lady love.

It had taken him three carefully orchestrated visits to the hospitals where Yeonjun was admitted to mold him into the weapon that would ultimately destroy his stepbrother. Under the pretense of charity and donations, he had visited the boy, seizing opportunities while his father was preoccupied with the decoy he had set up, a clandestine deal with Isanna for weapon import.

Under the guise of being a well-wisher for both him and Saya, Taehyung skillfully recounted the events that had transpired after Yeonjun's accident, twisting the narrative to suit his purpose. It had been disturbingly easy to make Yeonjun believe that Jungkook was the mastermind behind his accident, especially since he had once shown a propensity for violence when it came to protecting Saya.

Jungkook's attempt to kill one of his friends for touching Saya served as a strong foundation for his lies. Taehyung proceeded to weave a tale of how he had tried to help Saya escape from her tormentor but had ultimately been caught by Jungkook. He narrated a harrowing account of Saya's desperate attempt to free herself, describing how she had leaped into the sea in a bid to end her own life, only for Jungkook to intervene and prevent her from doing so. In the end, Taehyung painted a grim picture of Saya's acceptance of her fate, driven by the realization that the lives of those she loved, including Yeonjun himself, hung in the balance.

The boy, already emotionally fragile, would shed tears of anguish upon hearing how she was subjected to brutal treatment by Damian, all to force her into accepting Jungkook. The proof of her broken ribs served well to his purpose. Taehyung's own eyes would well up with feigned sorrow as he lied about seeing Saya as his little sister, and now, with his family discovering his intentions to intercept the marriage, he claimed he would be confined like a prisoner by Jungkook. He emphasized that, unlike Jungkook, he wasn't Damian's biological son, making his lies appear as the most honorable truth. Just as he had anticipated, Yeonjun, driven by his love for Saya and fueled by his belief in these falsehoods, offered himself as the instrument to end the one person he believed was responsible for her suffering.

In the end, brainwashing Yeonjun was barely an inconvenience to him, and with his smooth talking he was able to convince Yeonjun to commit murder and send him on a suicide mission.

"Saya has been programmed since her childhood to be Jungkook's shield," Taehyung told him, "That's why, no matter the circumstances, she always protected Jungkook. Besides, she's inherently kind, and she wouldn't allow the boy she raised to be killed, even if he were a devil himself. So if you truly want to end his life," he insidiously suggested, "your aim should be at Saya."

Taehyung had learned from his past mistakes, and despite the inherent risks, he was willing to take them. On top of that, he would never underestimate the unwavering power of love, especially the deep devotion a lovesick boy could have for his soon-to-be bride making him jump in front as a reflect.

He smirked, satisfied with his appearance. As usual, he wore a tailored grey suit, but for this occasion, he opted to go without a tie. After all, his dear brother had been gunned down, and he needed to appear disheveled as if affected by the tragedy.

The thought of Jungkook's death gnawed at his heart, and a deep pain welled up within him. He had never wished for his brother to suffer, which had led him to explore every alternative before resorting to his final plan. But Jungkook had persistently interfered in his battle with fate, leaving him with no other choice.

Once he was ready, Taehyung was escorted to his father's office. As he entered the room, he noticed that it was darker than usual. His father sat in his chair, his face obscured by his interlaced fingers, providing support for his head as he leaned forward.

"You visited the hospital Yeonjun was admitted to, thrice" Damian stated the connection Diva had pointed out after she requested him to let her review what Taehyung had been up to for the past three months.

"I did" Taehyung admitted taking his seat before his father.

"You met him didnt you" Putting his hand down, Damian asked to which his son nodded his head without any hesitation.

"You were behind this?" Damain further questioned and Taehyung took a deep breath in and gave him a small smile.

"The game of chess is all about how to use pawns to win the game, Father," Taehyung began, his tone measured, "We cannot resist the fascination of sacrifice, since a passion for sacrifices is part of a Chessplayer's nature"

Damian closed his eyes, a wave of realization crashing over him, and he couldn't escape the monstrous truth he had helped create. The haunting voice of the girl echoed in his ears, her cries and pleas begging him not to underestimate Taehyung. She had persistently shown him the harsh reality, and tried to make him see the truth, but he had consistently ignored her words, wrapped in his own delusions and shielded his son with flimsy excuses.

However, today, as he stared at his son, hands stained with the blood of his own brother, Damian couldn't help but laugh bitterly at his own foolishness. How could he have failed to recognize that his son was beyond redemption?

How could he go so wrong?

"Father's love knows no bounds," Damian uttered, tears welling up in his eyes as he finally grasped the grim reality of what needed to be done.

While he spoke, his right-hand man, the infamous "Min Yoongi," emerged from the shadows as if he had materialized out of thin air. Taehyung couldn't help but be impressed by Yoongi's ability to conceal his presence; it was no wonder he held such a prominent position in his father's ranks.

"As your father, I can forgive you for every sin, but I am his father too," Damian admitted with a heavy heart, his voice trembling as he handed the gun to Yoongi, knowing what dreadful task lay ahead.

With a deliberate motion, Yoongi deftly disengaged the safety lock on the gun and then slowly raised the weapon, pointing it directly at Taehyung

"I love my brother too, Father, but this is my battle with my destiny," Taehyung replied, a solemn resolve in his eyes as he prepared to face the consequences of his actions.

"It took my mother away from me, it then gave me the most beautiful love only to snatch with deceit. It gave me hope of happiness and then thrashed me back in the loneliest corner of the world." His voice cracked up with emotion.

"But I refuse to let it win. I will forge my own path and defy the hand of destiny that sought to control me," Taehyung proclaimed.

Yoongi moved his arms to aim at Damian instead of Taehyung catching him in shock.

"I will be with her against all odds"

The gunshot echoed through the room.
