Pregnant?

Katy's POV

I am with John Mayer. We went out to Bob's Burgers for dinner. Samie is at J's house. When we get done, John drives me back to my house. I wait about 10 minutes after he leaves to get into my car because I need to take a stop by the store. I kind of haven't had my period in 3 months and I'm starting to get worried. I drive to the nearest store that I think will have pregnancy tests. I walk around for a while. I grab a bag of Doritos, a bag of chocolate chip cookies, and a pregnancy test. I walk up to the check out.

"Can I have a pack of cigarettes?"

"I'll need to see your ID." I pull out my ID and hand it to her, hoping she doesn't make a bid deal about it. She looks at my ID, looks at me, and doesn't say a word about who I am.

"What kind would you like, ma'am?"

"Marlboro." She grabs me a pack. She tells me my total, and I get my credit card out. I pay and then leave. As soon as I get into my car, I light a cigarette. I never ever smoke around Samie unless she specifically says I can. When I get home, I automatically go to the bathroom. It says to wait a while, so, in the meantime, I go back into the living room and turn on the news.

It has been a while since I took the pregnancy test so I go back into the restroom to look at it. It has one bold line and then a very faint, but most certainly there, line. I start to cry. I can't be pregnant. This can't be happening. I go and grab my phone. Instead of calling my mom or dad or Samie, I call John.

"Yes, Katy."

"I need you to come over here like right now."

"Umm.. Why?"

"Just get over here." I hang up the phone. A couple of minutes later, someone knocks on the door. I open it and it's John. I tell him to come in. I have the pregnancy test behind my back.

"What is so important?"

"Do you love me?"

"Yes, of course, Katy. Why would you ever doubt that?"

"Like, I mean, do you love me and want to get married and start a family with me?"

"Yes, I would love to.. Wait a minute." I put the pregnancy test in front of him. He takes it from me and he starts to cry. He kisses me on the lips. "Is this for real?"

"Yes."

"Are you going to tell Samie?"

"Of course, I just don't know when to."

"Don't tell her until you're ready, okay, but when you want to tell her, I want to be there with you."

"Okay. I guess I should call my parents."

"That'd be a good idea." I call my mom's phone. I pick it up and it sounds like she is in the car."

"Hey, Katy."

"Hey, Mom. Who is all with you?"

"Just me and your dad."

"Oh, will you turn the phone on speaker."

"Sure, I guess."

"Mom, Dad, I need to tell you something. I just found out today. I.. Umm.. I don't know how to say this."

"Katy, you can tell us anything."

"... I'm.. Oh, shit. Sorry, I'll call you back. Samie and J are here." Samie walks into the house, I hide the pregnancy test.

"Mom, what was that?"

"Oh, nothing."

"Yes, it was something and it looked like a pee stick."
