Drunk

Samie's POV

     My mom went straight to her room after getting home, but I don't want to go to bed just yet. I get out my phone to text J. Right as I am about to send the text, I remember that we broke up. I just exit out and stare at the background. I never changed it from the picture of me, J, and my mom. I put my phone on the couch beside me and I get up. I open up the cupboard and take out a bottle prescribed to my mom for her knees. It's a really strong pain medicine. I take out a pill and twirl it in my fingers before popping it into my mouth and swallowing it with a drink of water. I stuff the bottle in my pocket then I walk up to my room.

     When I wake up in the morning, I feel like a train wreck. I feel around for the bottle and when I find it, there are only 6 pills left. When I took one last night, there were 8 left. I smack myself across the face because I realized what I did. I rub my eyes with the backs of my hands as I sit up in my bed. I stand up and I feel a little dizzy. I just shake it off. I walk down the stairs and walk into the kitchen to fix me a bowl of cereal. My mom is looking through the cupboard. I start to get nervous

"Hey, Samie, have you seen my pain medicine? I can't find it."

"No, I haven't seen it," I say forcefully 

"Okay?" She goes back to looking in the cupboard. "What time did you go to sleep last night? You look very tired."

"I don't really know. Not much longer after we got home."

"Maybe, you should go back and take a nap."

"Nah, I'm good. I'll make it."

"Okay." I start to eat my cereal, but I don't dare look up at my mom because she knows I'm acting weird. I find my phone on the couch because I left it there last night. I walk out to the balcony and call Brock

"Hey, Samie."

"Hey, can I come over?"

"Of course you can. Anytime."

"Okay, thanks." I walk upstairs and hide the pills in a place my mom won't ever think to look. I get into my car and drive over to Brock's house. I knock on the door and he automatically opens the door. I walk in and we walk up to his room

"So, why did you want to come over?"

"I did something really stupid last night."

"What's that?"

"I might of taken some of my mom's pain medicine."

"What do you mean?"

"My mom's medicine for her knees were in the cupboard, I took a pill and I woke up this morning and I had taken more that night."

"You should tell your mom."

"She'll kill me."

"Samie, this is something serious. You need to tell her before you get worse." I don't say anything. I just stand up and walk out of his house. I pull into the driveway and walk into the house. My mom is still searching through the cupboard. I walk upstairs and grab the bottle. I hold it in my hands as I walk back downstairs and walk right up to my mom. She turns towards me. 

"Mom, I love you so much. I do. I really do. I am thankful for what you have done in my life. You were a gift sent from Heaven, I know for sure."

"Where are you going with this?"

"But I can't stay here any longer. I have done some things that you and everyone else in the family would not like."

"What do you mean?" I spin the bottle around in my hands behind my back before grabbing it in my left hand. I pull it in front of me and I push it into my mom's chest. I run away. I hear her drop the bottle and then her running towards me. I pick up my pace. I forget about my car because she would catch up to me if I tried to get into my car.
