I Always Go Back To My Old Ways

I wake up in Jessica's arms. I can feel where the tears dried around my eyes. As I get up, Jessica grunts, but stays asleep. I search the floor for my purse and walk into the restroom. I shut the door behind me and sit on the floor with my back against the wall. I dump my purse, looking for my depression medicine, when I hear a clink. I look for what made that sound and a blade stares me back in the face, right next to a half full bottle of Hydrocodone perscribed to my mom. I shove the bottle into a small pocket in my purse and I pick the blade up. I run my finger gently on the sharp it. It's covered in dried up blood from forever ago. I haven't cut in a really long time... Every since Emelie was born, but right now, that's all I can think about doing. I cry because I start think of Emelie. I press the blade up against my left wrist, not breaking skin yet. I glide it across my wrist as a small drip of blood comes out

I hear Jessica get up out of the bed, but it sounded like she left the room. I tear rolls down my left cheek as I go to cut again and the door opens. I scramble to hide the blade and my wrist, but it's too late.

"Oh, Samie." She kneels down in front of me, putting both of her hands on my knees. She slowly moves her right hand off my knee and goes to grab the blade. I try to move my hand, but I can't move at all. She grabs it out of my hand and closes her hand before tossing it in the sink beside her. After opening the cabinet under the sink, she grabs a roll of gauze and a couple gauze pads. Carefully, she wipes the blood off of my arm. Then, she places the gauze pads over the cuts and begins to wrap the gauze around my arm.

"Tell me if I'm hurting you." I try to open my mouth to tell her it hurts really bad, but my lips don't budge. She helps me up and she walks into her room and sits me on her bed. I stare at my feet because they don't reach the ground. I look over at her as she searches through her drawers, pulling out a pair of running shorts and a long-sleeved, loose shirt. She hands me the clothes. "Let's see if these fit." I rub the soft shirt in between my pointer finger and thumb. She takes my shirt off, making sure to not hit my cuts. A tear rolls down my cheek. She wipes the tear from my cheek and says "Did I hurt you?" I use all my energy up by shaking my head. A low sigh of relief escapes her mouth. "It's a little big, is it okay?" I nod my head. It hurts so much to move. She helps me stand up before taking off the shorts I have on. I step into the shorts and she pulls them up. She rolls them up so they fit me better. "Are the shorts fine, too?" I nod my head again. She puts my clothes in the dirty clothes before fast-walking into the guest room again. I stare at my hand, covered in dried blood as I see Jessica walk past the master bedroom door. She walks back in the room with baby wipes and starts to wipe off my hand. She hands me a glass of water and a pill. "It's your meds. Take them." I slowly put my hand up to my mouth and let the pill fall into my mouth. I slowly take a drink and swallow it. She takes the cup of water from me and sets it on the nightstand. She helps me up again, but this time we walk into the kitchen where her family is all eating breakfast. "Do you want some breakfast?" I shake my head "Okay, well, I'm late for work. I'll see you tonight." She gives her husband a kiss on the lips and all of her kids a kiss on their foreheads. Right before Jessica opens the front door, Poppy runs up to  me. I kneel down to her height
