Double Rainbow (Katy Perry Fan Fiction)

Samie's Birthday

It is June 20th and that is Samie's birthday. She has gained her consciousness, but is still in the hospital. They have been treating her with chemo. It is really hard because she has lost all of her hair. She doesn't really eat all that much and she is fatigued. The doctors said I could take her out if she was feeling well enough. I really hope she is. She told me that when she got to go outside that all she wanted to do is go shopping with me and also get a wig. When I get to the hospital, Samie is sitting up in her bed without an IV in her arm. She also has a navy cancer hat that has the number 1984 printed on the front in white lettering. She has on a pair of jean shorts with a laced shirt.

"Hi, Katy. You can take Samie out today, but she will have to be back tonight for her last chemo treatment for a while. The good news is that the cancer is decreasing." I sit down in the bed next to her.

"Who are you?" she asks. The three words that came out of her mouth just killed me.

"Samie, I'm your mom."

"You can't be my mom. My mom wasn't as pretty as you."

"What do you mean?"

"The mom that gave birth to me. She wasn't as pretty as you are even when she put a pound of make-up on. She didn't have black hair, she had blonde. You can't be my mom."

"I think you'll recognize me more as Katy Perry."

"Katy Perry... Like the singer Katy Perry."

"Yeah, I adopted you. Is it ringing a bell?"

"Well, I know who you are and all I know is that I love you." A tear runs down my face as she squeezes me in a hug.

"Do you believe me when I say that I adopted you?"

"I mean, I don't know. I don't see a reason why you'd lie to me, but I just don't remember it."

"Well, I'm not lying and there are a bunch of fans out there that are wanting to see you and make sure you're okay."

"Fans of me?"

"Some of them, yeah."

"I have fans?"

"Yes, they love you, Samie. You're a good person to look up to."

"I don't believe you."

"Well, let's just go out there and see." We both get up and start walking. She can walk pretty well, but it makes me sad because she trips a lot. When we get outside, there are a bunch of paparazzi and fans waiting outside for us. Everyone is calling for Samie. She hides her face in my shoulder because she doesn't want people to judge her for her face being so skinny and bony from not eating all that much. I didn't want to just walk past all these fans so I walk up to some of them.

"Samie!!" They shout

"Sorry, everyone, she's a bit self-conscious about herself right now. The chemo has been making her lose her appetite so she hasn't been eating much and so her face is a bit bony."

"Samie, you're beautiful. You could weigh 90 pounds to 200 pounds and your mom will still think you're beautiful and we all will still think you're beautiful," one of the girls say. Samie slowly raises her head out of my shoulder and looks at the crowd of people with signs that say stuff like

SAMIE WE HOPE YOU GET THROUGH EVERYTHING!!! and Samie, no matter how dark a night, it must be followed by dawn. No matter how painful the fight, cancer must go so you can live on! and Remember, you're not dying from cancer, you're living with it!!

She wipes away a tear as she looks around and reads all the signs that people are holding up. She signs a couple of the posters that people have and then we get in the car. She lays against me. I put my arm around her waist. As she breathed, I could feel her rib cage. A tear starts to roll down my face, but I wipe it off. I hate the fact that she's so skinny. The driver drops us off at n/naka which is like the best restaurant in L.A. I know that Samie probably won't eat anything, but it is basically just to waste time because a bunch of people are setting up Samie's surprise party.
