Klaus's POV:

I hang up the phone as I walk through the halls, stopping at Lorelei's room. I nod to the two hybrids who'd been watching her all night and without a word, they head off .

I reach for the chain around my neck and retrieve the key, pulling it over my head and inserting it into the hole. I turn it to the right and it unlocks with a satisfying click.

I walk into room, closing the door behind me. I take a few steps forward, making sure to still be blocking the door in case she tries to bolt.

The room is fairly simple.

A bed to the left, against the wall. Window to the right. Not large enough to fit through but it would bring in pleasant evening air.

Especially when she was locked away.

In the beginning, Lorelei was shut in for her own safety. I could not risk enemies knowing about her existence. She understood this. As time went on she grew restless. After all, she'd grown up living in the mountains in a tent with the rest of her pack. It was torture for her.

I had no other choice.

She began to push back and I put her back in her place quickly every time.

Now things were becoming difficult again.

"Come here love." I say

There's silence but after a moment she appears from the bathroom and stands a few feet away.

She stares up at me, her eyes the color of emeralds. Her dark curls fall to her waist.

"Do you have anything to say for yourself?"

She immediately avoids my gaze.

Never one with a good Poker face.

"I asked you a question."

I keep my voice and gaze steady.

She shifts uncomfortably.

"Let's make a list then shall we? You took off out of the house without permission. You got involved in my affairs and quite possibly put your life in danger." I say counting them off on my fingers

She'd learned early on what was expected of her. It could be anything from making me coffee to collecting information.

I motion her to come forward and point to the spot where I want her to stand.

She does so automatically.

"Did you forget our arrangement?"

"No Nik I haven't."

"This crest around your neck means I own you."

Her lips press together in a fine line.

I recognized this look.

The sign that she's had enough and is about to snap.

"Speak."

Her eyes meet mine in a cold stare.

The attitude radiates off of her immediately.

"I wasn't in any danger. I was helping Rebekah." She snips

I wait for her to continue.

"I did the right thing regardless of your stupid rules."

She opens her mouth to say more but doesn't.

"Are you finished?"

She nods.

"The Town Council is hunting werewolves Lorelei. One of the newest members put vervain in their coffee and as much as I'd love to hang them all from the ceiling and bleed the whole lot of them out, I was too busy hearing about my sub and sister running about."

I watch as she takes this news in.

She looks a bit more saddened and ashamed.

I take a step towards her, closing off the distance between us. I tilt her chin up, not letting go even as her eyes meet mine.

"As for the rules, I will not argue when it comes to your safety."

We stand together as time passes. We breathe each other's air, letting the silence grow.

Her eyes close. Seeming to relax.

"Lorelei."

She looks up at me.

"Should you disobey me again, you will face consequences."

I watch as she shivers a bit at the thought.

"Do you understand me?"

"Yes Master."
