Klaus's POV:

I hang up the phone.

Lorelei's phone keeps going to voicemail.

Perhaps I should get a witch.

I go to dial again when I hear the sounds of a car approaching. Walking through the hall, I open the front door to see Lorelei arriving. She pulls in and parks. When she gets out, I speed over to her to keep her from running.

"Lorelei-"

She moves to step past me and I sidestep, blocking her path.

"Don't start Nik."

I watch as she gathers her things out of the car. She closes it and moves to walk but I block her. She shoots me a look. Stubborn she goes to move again and this time I take a few steps forward, causing her to back up against the car.

"I did what you said. Congrats Nik. You now have 10 more vampires. Can I go now?"

She stares up at me, her green eyes staring intently back at me, her lips pressed together in a look of pure annoyance.

" Where is he?"

"In the trunk."

Walking over to the trunk she opens it to reveal Stefan Salvatore crammed into the tight space, a thick pool of blood staining his light blue t shirt right above where his heart is, arms sprawled about, head at an unnatural angle. Listening for a heartbeat and hearing none, I close the trunk. Two more hybrids exit the house and make their way towards us.

"You, bring Stefan to the cellar to dry out." I say to one of the young men

I had been cycling through hybrids to the point that names were meaningless.

There were two left.

Also thanks to Lorelei's dramatics, three.

It was time to change that.

I was no fool.

Damon Salvatore alone could slaughter the lot of them, not saying they wouldn't take him down in the process with a fatal wolf bite or two but it would be an awful waste.

Stefan Salvatore would be just a stepping stone in the plan to get what I need.

The hybrids lift Stefan, one at his arms, the other with his legs and they carefully carry him into the house, disappearing inside. Lorelei walks forward but I sidestep, blocking her yet again. This time she huffs at me. I smirk.

"What do you want, Nik?" She demands

"How many vampires did you say you've made so far?"

"Ten."

"You're coming with me to West Virginia. I have a few things to do then we're leaving. Get your coat." I say pointing to the house

She holds up a hand.

"I'm not going anywhere. I have spent the past eleven hours running around town doing all kinds of shit for you. I'm going to bed."

"Such an attitude."

"Yeah I'm tired and I'm hungry." She says as she tries yet again to move past me

She stares at me, hair a mess and eyes narrowed. Any normal person may pity her but I do not. It took decades of planning to put the pieces in place for me to not only break the hybrid curse my mother had bestowed upon me but also to make not one but two hybrid packs. The first I had slaughtered for breaking their sire bond and betraying me. Lorelei in her tantrum slaughtered most of the rest of them. Some were taken out by the Town Council. The humans here were already hunting out vampires. Now with the Lockwood boy buried in a grave in the woods somewhere, the need for extra security was top priority. Now I was in the midst of making the third. The last thing I needed was her to interfere.

"Let me make myself clear about something. Should you intervene in my plans again, you'll find that room will become your new home for more than a few months. A few decades is a mere blip of your lifetime." I say leaning in close to her

She stares back at me, eyes widening more with every sentence.

"Can I go now?"

"You're still coming with me, love."

"No."

"It wasn't a request."

"I'm denying it either way." She says

Speeding around me she heads for the house, locking the door behind her. She laughs then books it around the corner. Thinking for a moment I head for the roof. Looking from room to room I catch her just as she finishes locking the back door. She turns around and bumps into me. Her eyes widen and she moves to flee but in that brief moment she is caught off guard, I grab her by the shoulders, spinning her around to face the wall before grabbing both her wrists, pinning them above her. I lean in using my weight to pin her in place. She struggles trying to free herself, to pull her hands out of my grasp but it's of no use.

"I've learned quite a bit about you since you began your stay. See you are about as stubborn as they come. Pain rarely breaks you. The only way to get in your way is to show you that you're not in charge. Like the little brat you are, you enjoy the chase. But now it's over and it's time for that little lesson I warned you about."
